UNIPORT 4: Main Murderer Arrested (PHOTO)
A Joint Team of Soldiers and the Nigerian Police force has captured the man that implicated the four UNIPORT students beaten to death and set ablaze alive by Aluu Community Vigilante group last Friday.
Aluu community leader, others arrested over videotaped lynching of UNIPORT students
Following the lynching of four students of the University of Port Harcourt, River State, the police have arrested Aluu community leader, Alhaji Hassan Walewa.
The police on Sunday morning stormed Aluu in Ikwerre Local Government Area, where the students were beaten to death and set ablaze by a mob.
Also arrested by security agents were members of Walewa’s family and some students of the institution, who lived off campus.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the community was deserted when security agents and soldiers stormed the area in search of those who killed the students on Friday. The lynched students were identified as Lloyd, Tekena, Ugonna and Chidiaka. Those who lynched the students reportedly accused them of stealing laptops and phones.
Speaking with a correspondent of Punch on Sunday, the immediate past President of UNIPORT’s Students’ Union, Mr. Rhino Owhorkire, expressed regrets that some students living within the community had also been arrested by the police.
Owhorkire explained that though the arrest of some members of the community was a welcome development, the arrest of “innocent” students living in the community was unnecessary.
He condemned the gruesome murder of the students, maintaining that the crowd should have handed them over to the police.
Owhorkire said, “We totally condemn the act that was perpetrated by the Omokiri Allu community. We ought to have gone beyond meting out jungle justice to anybody. They claimed the students were robbers, but nobody came out to say his property was stolen.
“We also heard that the students were cult members, who went to collect dues from other members. But the aggrieved colleagues decided to brand them thieves and this attracted some members of the community who killed them. We have been hearing a lot of rumours since the incident.”
He said that the UNIPORT Students Union had dissuaded students planning from embarking on a protest in Aluu community to shelve the idea in order to allow security agencies to carry out their investigation.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ben Ugwuegbulam, confirmed that some arrests were made in Aluu, adding that any person found not culpable would be released.
According to him, the police are making progress on their investigation based on the information at their disposal.
A source also said the video of how the students were killed was being investigated.
Also, the Public Relations Officer of UNIPORT, Dr. William Wodi, told PUNCH Metro that the university had yet to ascertain if the deceased were students of the university or not.
Wodi said the institution would make its position on the matter known to the public on Monday (today).

VIDEO...EXTREMELY GRAPHIC!!..UNIPORT STUDENTS BURNT TO DEATH FOR STEALING
IS THIS JUSTICE?
These people being killed, are they not human beings just like the ones killing and burning?
What right do they have to pass judgement, beating fellow humans to death and burning them? Gosh! Now who are the real criminals? This video is an evidence and faces were shown, have they been arrested? Where are the security agents in Nigeria? What kind of judgement is being passed before investigation? These students might be innocent! They might just be coming back from a party! Maybe the real robbers have come and gone and these students just happen to be there at that time! These boys were not even armed..no guns or dangerous weapons were found on them! Nothing was found on them, no proof whatsoever! Gosh! This is a waste of human lives! How would the families of these victims feel?
Can someone please answer these quetions!!!

EYEWITNESSES ACCOUNT.... UNIPORT STUDENTS BURNT TO DEATH FOR STEALING
Yesterday, News surfaced online about some UNIPORT students being mobbed after stealing Phones and laptops . The story went viral online on blogs platforms and social networks with so many comments from people.
According to an eyewitness:
The Students involved were cultists, 5 in number. They went to Attack someone, and on their way out, a girl saw them and screamed. This alerted people and they attacked the students. One of them escaped and the remaining 4 were caught with weapons and beaten by a man; hitting them mercilessly and bringing them to a slow and painful death..
The man later got fuel and poured it in their mouth and lit it, burning one student! The man was stopped with the arrival of the police so he couldn’t burn the rest. They were later taken to the mortuary where the families of the deceased came to claim the corpse…
The news about stealing of phones, laptops, e.t.c are all lies, probably in a bid to stall investigations.. since they said they were mobbed!!..
My questions about this eyewitness account are; does it mean it's one man responsible for beating these students to death and burning one of them? was the man at the scene when police arrived and if he was there why wasn't he arrested immediately? so all the bystanders and witnesses were just standing there, looking and recording on their phones while this horrendous act was being committed?
Here is another angle to the story tweeted by a friend to an eyewitness:
Tweeting with the handle @Penny_sugababe, Peniel who apparently stays in Port Harcourt, started by expressing her anger over the fact that many people attached sentiments in their reactions. She goes:
“Gosh! So because the criminals that were killed in PH today were cute, people are calling it injustice…Smh.. Nigerians sha”
She eventually recounted the story, as told by her friend.
“For people who need the real gist of what happened in UNIPORT, my friend was an eyewitness, nd she even has a part of the video on her fone. The people in Aluu community complained dey had been terrorized my robbers lately and it was almost a routine so dey set up a vigilante grp..
“At about 5am this morning, they got word dat dey were some robbers in d area and they made sure all the exits were blocked while dey waited. They were caught and dragged to d community head who told dem to confess and dey gave 3 different stories that didn’t even match. They were actually 5, one of them escaped! Dey got info about someone that had some money, it wasn’t laptops and phones please..
“Ugonna’s (the cutest) sister said she actually gave him money yesterday to go back home. PS: he’s an only son with 4 sisters..
“Anyways, people actually begged for their lives, but the community boys were bent on dealing with dem! These boys had machetes and axes sef. The community boys started beating then with dia own machetes and other weapons, until dey gave up! Police came afterwards for the bodies..
“Llyod (one of the criminals) father works with Radio rivers and even announced on air today that his son is “no thief” ...
“They chose a wrong path, and dey knew the end…… Did dey expect an angry mob to pat dem on dia backs and give then ice-cream? Oh please..
“Good night folks, pray for your loved ones, never to join a wrong crowd or be misguided. The fate of those boys…… It is well.”
According to this second account of the story, the students were beaten by the community boys (and not by a man, according to the first eyewitness). Well, whatever way it happened, THIS ISN'T RIGHT AND THE PERPETRATORS MUST BE BROUGHT TO JUSTICE! I also think the bystanders did not act enough to make sure that these students weren't beaten to death...and burnt!
