Harare - 7-Year-Old Girl Testifies How Step-Mum Forced Her To Eat Her Faeces

A SOMBRE atmosphere last week engulfed the court as a seven-year-old girl gave a heart-rending account on how she was forced by her stepmother to eat faeces as punishment for soiling blankets. The 19-year-old stepmother is facing charges of ill-treating a minor under provisions of the Children’s Act.
The girl gave evidence in the victim friendly court, on a closed circuit television screened from a separate room. Harare magistrate Ms Anita Tshuma is presiding over the case.
The girl said her father threatened her if she gave incriminating evidence against his wife. Ms Tshuma was forced to briefly adjourn the court after many people watching proceedings from the closed circuit television could be seen shedding tears.

Revealed: How The Future Archbishop Of Canterbury was blindfolded by rebels...Arrested by the Nigerian Army while on Peace Mission

Soldiers with machine guns circled in helicopters as rebels blindfolded Justin Welby, the future Archbishop of Canterbury, bundled him into a speedboat and took the mild-mannered Old Etonian into the heart of Nigeria’s darkness.

Although in extreme danger, the bespectacled father of five remained ‘completely relaxed’, according to a colleague who was with him on the peace mission for a church body.

On another occasion, fresh from negotiating with Al Qaeda operatives, the Right Rev Welby was arrested by the Nigerian army.
God's work: Justin Welby in Kaduna, Nigeria where he was arrested by the Nigerian Army

As he heard shouting and pounding footsteps of soldiers storming up the stairs, he spoke calmly down the phone to a colleague. ‘I’m going to count to ten and when I finish, they’ll be here. Don’t worry, I’ll leave my phone on, so I can be traced,’ he crisply informed Canon Dr Stephen Davis, who was on the other end of the line in Britain.

He then completed the countdown, placed the muted phone in his pocket and passively accepted the rough shoves of his captors as they bundled him out of the building.

California Woman, Fired After Calling Obama N-Word, Hoping He's Assassinated (VIDEO)

Denise Helms, a 22-year-old California woman whose racist, threatening Facebook status about President Barack Obama went viral this week, has since been fired from her job at a Turlock, Calif., Cold Stone Creamery, and the Secret Service is now looking into her comments.

“Another 4 years of this (Nigga),” Helms wrote on her Facebook Tuesday night. “Maybe he will get assassinated this term.”

Fox 40 news crew caught up with an unapologetic Helms on Wednesday:

"I didn't think it would be that big of a deal," she said. "The assassination part is kind of harsh. I'm not saying like I would go do that or anything like that, by any means, but if it was to happen, I don't think I'd care one bit."

She then took to Facebook to defend herself:
"So apparently my post last night about Obama got onto Twitter and Fox 40 came and interviewed me cause apparently a lot of people in Sacramento think I'm crazy and racist. WOW is all I got to say!! I'm not racist and I'm not crazy. just simply stating my opinion.!!!"
Her Facebook account has since been deactivated.

Suspected Ritualists Kill Delta Monarch ...Vital Organs Missing

Suspected ritualists currently operating in Eruemukowharien community in Ughelli north local government area of Delta State have allegedly murdered a prominent high chief in the area.

The ritualists removed his genitals and intestine, even as his body was deposited by a river bank. The victim, identified as Francis (surname withheld), had reportedly left a town hall meeting on Thursday night when the ritualists attacked him.

An eyewitness, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, said he was shot and dragged into the bush, where they removed his vital organs before dumping him by the river bank. LEADERSHIP WEEKEND gathered that the ritualists had also shot sporadically into the air to scare passers-by before attacking the victims.

Sources said cases relating to ritual killings have been rampant within Ibusa and Ogwashi-Uku communities in the last few months, as not less than thirteen prominent persons have been reportedly killed with vital parts of their bodies removed.

Some residents, who spoke to LEADERSHIP WEEKEND on anonymity, said it was a case of unknown gun men, but family members of the deceased insists that vital parts of his body were removed, which is a strong indication of ritual killing. LEADERSHIP WEEKEND further investigations revealed that there have been recurrent cases of bizarre murder in the state.

Last week Tuesday, a female JSS 2 student was reportedly murdered in Okwenear Asaba with her pubic hair shaved off and her ears removed by suspected ritualists. Police spokesman in the state, DSP Charles Muka, who confirmed the story, said some persons were arrested, adding that the murdered chief was a case of ritual.

EX Coronation Street Actor, Bill Tarmey (Jack Duckworth) dies @ 71

Beloved by soap fans for his role as Jack Duckworth, Bill Tarmey passed away peacefully at his holiday home in Tenerife.

Bill joined Corrie in the 70s

Born and raised in Manchester, Bill’s family struggled to make ends meet, living in a terraced house with an outside toilet.

His dad, an ambulance driver in World War II, was killed by shellfire and his mother married their next-door neighbour.

In 1955, Bill met Alma at a youth club and the pair married in 1962.

He carved out a career as a singer in working men’s clubs and released three albums, enjoying two top 40 hits.

To supplement his income, Bill took on work as an extra on shows such as Corrie, among others.

Despite suffering a major heart attack in 1976, aged 35, and a stroke in 1977, he was eventually offered the role of Jack, who also worked as a potman in the Rovers Return.

A lifelong heavy smoker, Bill had quintuple bypass surgery in 1986.

He had a pacemaker fitted after suffering a second heart attack in 2002 and “died” twice while being treated.

But Bill refused to quit the cigarettes. He said in one interview: “I could make it easier on myself. I could give up. I could go and sit in a rocking chair. But that wouldn’t be me.”

His on-screen relationship with Vera – an amusing mix of nagging, heated rows and scraps underpinned with a genuine love for each other – had viewers enthralled.

Eleven million tuned in to watch his final scene on November 7, 2010, when Jack died in the same chair where Vera passed away two years earlier. He was last seen dancing with her ghost – after she told him off for looking scruffy.

Despite failing health, Bill was persuaded to postpone his retirement until the show’s 50th anniversary.

Bill put much of his health problems down to his time laying asphalt.

He was on a cocktail of drugs for his heart condition and suffered from severe hearing loss – a condition he blamed on years of singing with big bands.

Apart from his own health, one of the reasons Bill left Corrie was to support son Carl, who was battling back from surgery and chemotherapy after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

The star was on holiday with Alma, Carl and his wife Sandra. Alma found him dead, according to family friend Vernon Harris.

He said yesterday: “She slept on the sofa last night as Bill wasn’t well.

“She woke up this morning, couldn’t hear him and went in and he was dead. It’s such a shock.

“Bill had told me he didn’t feel well and wanted to go home.”

Bill was due to fly back to Manchester yesterday.

He had been lined up to play the part of the Ghost of Christmas Past in a Children In Need sketch featuring Scrooge and a clutch of ex-Corrie stars.
