Idris Elba almost didn't make it to the red carpet for the opening of Long Walk To Freedom, the new film from director Justin Chadwick in which Elba plays Nelson Mandela. He was rushed into hospital in London after suffering an asthma attack on the plane shortly before it was due to take off for Johannesburg.

He made it just in time to be embraced by Mandela's wife Graca Machel saying, "Let me hug my husband".

The 150 minute biopic was shown simultaneously for the first time on three screens in Johannesburg in front of an invited audience including three generations of the Mandela family and one of his former cell-mates.

Watch Video Below:

Mandela's life story is an epic and producer Anant Singh hopes it will inspire people to struggle to justice. Born to be a leader of his Xhosa tribe, Mandela - known more familiarly to South Africans as 'Madiba' - studied law but became committed to the struggle for racial equality.

Jailed for life for opposing white minority rule and banished to an island prison, he was soon elevated to a status that approached sainthood.

Released from prison after serving twenty-seven years, he was elected president in South Africa's first truly democratic election and oversaw a huge social change.

At the premiere Winnie Mandela, who was married to Nelson Mandela throughout his incarceration and campaigned tirelessly for his release reminded the gathering, "We should remember where we come from and that this freedom was hard earned. "

'Long Walk to Freedom' is a totally South African production apart from the two British actors, Idris Elba and Naomi Harris in the title roles.

"Imprisoned" Enugu First Lady, Clara Chime, Hires Falana To Secure Her Release

Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has asked the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. MD Abubakar, to ensure the immediate release from unlawful detention of Mrs. Clara Chime, the First Lady of Enugu State who is being held hostage at Government House Enugu by Governor Sullivan Chime, or be dragged to court.

In a letter dated November 1, 2013, Mr. Falana, representing Mrs. Chime, pointed out that his client has been kept incommunicado in solitary confinement for over four months on the directives of Governor Chime.

“Thus our client’s fundamental rights to the dignity of her person, personal liberty, fair hearing, private and family life and freedom of movement guaranteed by the Constitution and the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights (Ratification and Enforcement) Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 have been violated without any legal justification,” it said.

“Although our client’s dehumanizing detention conditions have had deleterious effects on her psychological state as well as her mental and physical health she has been denied access to her doctors by her abductors,” the petition said. “It is particularly disturbing to note that some of the police and state security service personnel assigned to secure the safety of the Enugu State governor, his wife and other family members have aided and abetted Mr. Chime in subjecting our client to egregious infringements of her aforesaid fundamental rights.”

It pointed out, however, that unlike the governor who is currently immune from prosecution under the constitution, the police and state security service officials involved in the illegal arrest and detention of Mrs. Chime ought to be sanctioned under the relevant laws.

In a letter exclusively published by SaharaReporters on October 28, Mrs. Chime complained that Governor Chime had placed her under house arrest, and begged human rights bodies to come to her rescue.

She said that eminent personalities such as President and Mrs. Goodluck Jonathan and the Bishop Callistus Onaga of Enugu State and other top priests had attempted to intervene in the matter without success.

Among other things, Mrs. Chime said she had been introduced to two psychiatrists, Dr. Onwukwe and Dr. Agumo, who prescribed “all kinds of drugs that ends up keeping me acute depressed and also drives me into hallucinations.”

Justin Bieber caught sneaking out of "brothel" in Brazil

On Friday, Justin Bieber was caught trying to sneak out of popular Brazilian "brothel" Centaurus with the help of his burly minders who covered him in a white sheet.

The 19-year-old then jumped into the back of a waiting car and was joined by two females from the club, claim reports.

An insider says Justin believed he was a guest at a private club.

According to one website, Centaurus is listed as the "Top 4th" brothel in the world, and says "$210 buys you 40 minutes with any girl".

Although the controversial singer is draped in the sheet, part of his well-known wrist tattoo is on display.

Justin, who's in Brazil for a string of gigs, also apparently got chucked out of his hotel - the swanky Copacabana Palace in Southern Rio - but a source says he voluntarily left because the gathering hordes of fans were creating a "security issue".

This isn't the first saucy trip that's landed Bieber in the headlines. Two weeks ago, he was was pictured flashing large wads of cash in a Texas strip club.

A rather star-struck dancer from the club then posted a message on Twitter, which the whole world (anyone who cared) later saw.

"He touched my Ass and I Almost fainted, she wrote. Shortly followed by, "He Was Like Its Real!!"

With his new bulging biceps and six-pack, wispy moustaches and latest x-rated trips, we think he's doing a bloomin' great job at dusting off his old image.
