Multiple explosions tore through the central mosque in Kano, Nigeria's second-largest city today.
At least 81 people were killed in the bomb attack, sources from two hospitals visited by Reuters said. Police earlier put the figure at 35.
Around 150 others sustained various degrees of injuries in the blasts.
According to witnesses, heavy smoke could be seen billowing in the sky from a long distance away.
Immediately after the blasts, hundreds of angry youths took to the streets to riot, throwing stones and sticks and shouting at security officials.
