DUBLIN: 40 yr old Nigerian man beaten to a pulp with baseball bat ...Gardai appeal for mobile phone footage of the brutal attack

GardaĆ in Dublin are calling on anyone who filmed a brutal assault on the Main Street in Swords yesterday, to come forward.

The victim, a man in his 40’s who is originally from Nigeria, is in a critical condition at Beaumont Hospital after he was attacked with a baseball bat at around 12.20pm yesterday afternoon.

Another man, who is also from Nigeria, was arrested and is being questioned at Coolock Garda Station.

Superintendent Ronan Galligan from Swords Garda Station believes there is a lot of mobile phone footage of the attack.

Supt Galligan said: "I believe there were approximnately 30 or 40 people around at the time with mobile phones on them and we see from stuff that is captured on social media.

"I would have a concern that if people actually have footage of that, that it wouldn't end up on social media, that they would come to the guards here first. It is an absolutely vital part of our investigation."

Man still in coma 5 months after alleged police assault

Saheed Waliu

Months after he was allegedly struck with an iron rod on his head by some policemen at the Iba area, Ojo, Lagos, Saheed Waliu, has remained in a coma at Bola Tinubu ward of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.

Waliu, a tyre repairer, was said to be on his way home on May 8, 2013, when the incident occurred; he was in company with a friend, Sherif Eleda.

His aged mother, Saidat, told PUNCH Metro on Wednesday that she was at home that fateful night when Eleda rushed into her house with news of the incident.

She said, “It was about 8.45pm when Eleda rushed into my home crying. He told me that Waliu had been attacked by some policemen. Eleda had escaped arrest by the same policemen to tell me the news.”

PUNCH Metro gathered that Waliu, as was his custom, had stopped by the Amonota filling station, along the LASU /Igando expressway to pick up Eleda, on his way home.

Both men had only gone a short distance on Waliu’s bike when they noticed some policemen, who were usually stationed by the NNPC fuel station along the expressway. They were said to be in a vehicle, tagged Highway patrol.

Suddenly, without any warning, the policemen allegedly threw an iron rod at Waliu, causing him to lose control of the bike. Both men fell with the motorcycle. While Eleda was able to pick himself up, almost immediately, Waliu unfortunately could not.

In addition to having suffered a split skull as a result of the assault, Waliu’s motorbike, which fell on him, had also broken one of his legs. The young man, soon to be married, remained motionless on the ground while his attackers went in pursuit of Eleda.

Saidat said, “We rushed to the scene immediately; I was accompanied by my brother and one of my daughters, Taiwo. When we got there, the policemen had moved away to the other side of the road, trying to pretend that nothing had happened. My brother went over and confronted them with what Eleda had told us. They denied it but when Eleda insisted, they had no choice than to accompany us to a nearby hospital for treatment.

“When we got to the hospital, we were asked to pay N10,000 before any treatment could be administered. Both policemen could only contribute N500 each, and then with the excuse that they wanted to get more money from their vehicle, they escaped.”

After Waliu had received first aid, he was immediately transferred to LASUTH that same night due to the severity of his injuries.

Yet, after two surgeries on his head, Waliu is unable to regain consciousness. He neither speaks nor recognizes his mother, who has since kept vigil at the hospital in the hope that her eldest child would get better.

“I have been at the hospital ever since; I sleep here, outside the ward. The doctors say that his brain was severely hurt in the attack; that is all I know. We have spent over N800,000 for the last two surgeries on his head. I am now trying to raise another N250,000. Everything of value, owned by Waliu and I, has been sold to foot his medical bills.

“The policemen, who did this, have gone scot free; they must come and take responsibility for their actions,” Saidat said.

Although, the family made no formal report to the police station in their neighbourhood, PUNCH Metro gathered that a non-governmental organisation, Know Your Rights Initiative, had done so on their behalf.

KYRI Legal Adviser, Mr. Omo Egbekuse, told PUNCH Metro that the matter came to the group’s attention last week.

He said, “We immediately wrote a petition to the Inspector General of Police, the Lagos State Police Commissioner and the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2. We haven’t heard from them yet but expect that action would be taken in respect of this matter.”

The Force Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Frank Mba did not respond to calls and text messages to his phone.

Customs Agent killed by a stray bullet from a policeman’s rifle while having a meal of eko and peppersoup at a canteen.

 Ganiyu Adedoyin

A licensed clearing agent, Ganiyu Adedoyin, has been killed in Oshodi, Lagos, by policemen attached to the Makinde Division.

Adedoyin was said to have died on Sunday after he was hit by a stray bullet from a policeman’s rifle while the businessman was having a meal of eko and peppersoup at a canteen.

At the time, the policemen were said to be attempting to disperse protesters, who had stormed the station to protest the death of one Rafiu Adeniji at the Mangoro end of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

PUNCH Metro had on Tuesday, reported that Adeniji was killed by a policeman in the presence of his six-year-old daughter. Some youths allegedly stormed the Makinde Police Division to protest against Adeniji’s death after his corpse was taken to his mother’s home at Samura Street, Oshodi.

In a bid to disperse the protesters, some policemen were said to have fired into the crowd after ordering them to take their protest elsewhere as Adeniji’s killing did not happen in their jurisdiction.

Adedoyin, who was having his meal at a nearby canteen, was hit in the chest by a stray bullet. When our correspondent visited the scene of the incident on Baderin Street, Adedoyin’s friends were seen discussing the incident.

One of them, who identified himself simply as Adebayo, claimed to have witnessed the incident. Adebayo insisted that Adedoyin did not participate in the protest.

He said, “On Sunday, around 6pm, we had just finished watching the football match between Arsenal FC and West Brom when Adedoyin said he wanted to eat so we sat outside and were all talking together when we saw two white police patrol vehicles drive by and park at Mukadas junction.

“We started hearing sporadic gunshots and we all stood up to run inside when a bullet hit Adedoyin in the chest. He fell to the ground and started begging us to rush him to a hospital.”

Adebayo said because the shooting continued, they were all afraid to leave the place but they were able to get a car and carried him into it. He said Adedoyin was taken to three hospitals but was not given any treatment

He said, “We went to Mandela Hospital, Bolade, but the security guard told us no one was available so we took him to Grand Progress Medical Centre on Church Street, but we were told that there was no blood.

“Next, we took him to Ayoradex Hospital also known as Pure Heart on Alimi Oke Street, but we were told that they did not have oxygen. They advised us to take him to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja. On getting to LASUTH, he was confirmed dead and we were told to get a police report before they could accept the corpse at the mortuary.”

PUNCH Metro learnt that all attempts by Adedoyin’s friends to get a police report from the Makinde Police Division, proved futile as the police denied killing Adedoyin. The deceased’s friends allegedly met a brickwall when they attempted to obtain a police report from the Akinpelu Police Division.

They were allegedly mocked by the policemen on duty who threatened to shoot them.

Adebayo said, “On getting to Akinpelu Police Station, we met two policemen at the entrance. We told them the reason why we came but they mocked us. One of the policemen said, ‘We heard what you youths did at Makinde Police Station, causing havoc. Now you want police report. If you don’t get out of here, we will shoot you.”

It took the intervention of PUNCH Metro for the youths to get a police report after a telephone call to the Area F Commander, ACP Tunde Adagunduro, who instructed that the policemen convey the corpse to LASUTH.

“Even at LASUTH, the station officer of Makinde refused to give us a copy of the police report because the police did not want to own up to the killing,” Adebayo said.

Elder brother to the deceased, Kehinde, described Adedoyin’s death as a great loss to the family and demanded justice for his murder.

He said, “My brother was a responsible man. He had no time for protests. He was killed by a police stray bullet. We want justice for him and a speedy release of his corpse for burial.”

Although the Lagos State Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Damasus Ozoani, confirmed the protest at Makinde Police Division, he however said the police were not aware of the killing of Adedoyin.

Ozoani said, “After Adeniji’s killing in Agege area, youths in Oshodi, wielding petrol and other weapons, attempted to burn down Makinde Police Division but we were able to disperse them.”

So sad! May his soul rest in peace!

Boko Haram: Shekau’s ‘I'm Alive’ Video is Fake according to Security Analysis

040613F.Abubakar-Shekau.jpg - 040613F.Abubakar-Shekau.jpg

The last may not have been heard concerning the survival or otherwise of the leader of the outlawed Islamic sect, Boko Haram, Abubkar Shekau, as a security analysis conducted by the Department of the State Security (DSS), yesterday revealed that the recent video appearance of the sect’s leader was fake.

The expert analysis of the video of the sect’s leader in previous appearances showed that Shekau usually starts with the recitation of a full verse of the Quran, which sometimes could last up to five minutes, a sequence the stand-in Shekau did not observe.

According to a senior official of the agency, who spoke on conditions of anonymity, the amateur cloned replica of Shekau was wrong on several grounds including the fact that his former appearances in videos was patterned after a certain modus operandi.
It was also observed in the analysis, that unlike on previous occasions when Shekau spoke, he was never interrupted by any background praising quite unlike what happened in the latest video.

The video, which was sent in for analysis by experts showed that the movement of “Shekau’s lips” did not synchronize with the words as pronounced, apparently betraying a recorded message inefficiently manipulated to sustain a non-existent continuum in leadership, now in disarray.
The experts had stated that the cloned attempt to mimick Shekau voice during the opening stanza soon gave in, as the impostor reverted to his real voice, while the intonation was different as Shekau was not known to drawl while talking.
Other inconsistencies discovered by the experts were that: “This ‘Shekau’ even said a dead woman -Margaret Thatcher, and Oladipo Diya, rejoiced over his (Shekau's) death.

A DSS source who spoke to THISDAY said, "How does these add up to strengthen his case? One is dead and the other had left government long before the advent of Boko Haram. The video was just to create unnecessary panic in the public.

“The fact is that Abubakar Shekau, was truly shot, critically injured and evacuated by his lieutenants to a conventional hospital outside Nigeria. It is only time that will tell if he survived but we know now that the video is as fake as it gets.”

The Kardashians: Kris and Bruce Jenner announce their separation

Last year - believed to be just before their split

After 22 years of marriage, Kris and Bruce Jenner has announced their separation:

"We are living separately and we are much happier this way. But we will always have much love and respect for each other. Even though we are separated we will always remain best friends and, as always, our family will remain our number one priority.

"We ended a marriage, but that's not the end of our friendship."
The Kardashian's With the brood (FilmMagic)

Some critics are claiming that the couple secretly split more than a year ago, but kept it quiet in order to protect the Kardashian brand.

Scenes for the famous family's reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians did not show any sign of marital problems except with footage of Bruce moving into his "man cave", but the former athlete portrayed this move as just wanting "some space".

According to Us Weekly, Kris insists that all of the scenes on the show were "genuine" - but TMZ report the couple may have kept quiet so as to save the separation for a story line on season 9 of the show.

TMZ reports: "We're told the upcoming season will show Bruce and Kris living separately but coming together at various points for family events ... and there will be a lot of them. What's more ... we're told the family is very conscious of the fact that they can make more in syndication."

Manager mum Kris, 57, and former Olympian Bruce, 63, got married in 1991 and celebrated their 22 year wedding anniversary back in April.

Writing on Instagram about their anniversary Kris said:

"Happy anniversary Bruce!!!! Best 22 years I could ever have imagined...hope the next 22 is even more fabulous...I love you!"

But since then there's been lots of speculation about the couple's marriage and it was well known that Bruce had been living in a rented Malibu property, while Kris had stayed at their Calabasas home. Despite that, Khloe, who's currently facing marriage troubles of her own said people shouldn't read into it.

"They're not having problems but they still like to live apart, which is definitely different," Khloe explained in June.

Together the couple has two daughters - Kylie and Kendall - while Bruce has four kids from a previous marriage and Kris has four kids from her marriage with OJ Simpson lawyer Robert Kardashian.

BIZARRE VIDEO: Drunk Easyjet Passenger Strips Himself Naked And Challenges Pilot To A Fight......Gets A Slap From His Female Companion!

The burly, bald passenger also urinated up the side of the terminal building and also received a slap across the face from his female companion

A drunken passenger was tasered by police after stripping naked on the airport tarmac – and challenging the pilot to a fight.

The 52-year-old man, who had arrived in Manchester on an easyJet flight from Malta, also urinated up the side of the Terminal One building.

Video taken of the amazing incident shows the burly, bald man removing his clothes on the runway apron and posturing at the captain – before receiving a slap across the face from his female companion.

It is understood trouble began mid-flight when the man, who appeared drunk, became abusive and started swearing at fellow passengers.

A witness who asked not to be named said: “He’d had an altercation with other passengers and the captain had come down the plane to calm him down.”

But on landing at Manchester at 1.28pm, the passenger’s bizarre behaviour continued.

It is understood that after coming off the plane, down the steps and on to the tarmac, he stripped to his black underpants and gestured towards the pilot.

CLICK BELOW TO WATCH THE VIDEO!

Video obtained by Manchester Evening News shows him then stripping completely naked before getting a slap across the face from a woman.

The witness added: “He must have been drunk because when he came off the plane, he took his top off and shouted ‘come on then’ in a Manchester accent and was trying to get the captain to fight him.

“Then he carried on taking all his clothes off. I have no idea why. The woman he was with gave him a slap for it.”

The man put his clothes back on before entering Terminal One, where police arrived at 1.40pm.

They tried to control him but resorted to using a ‘dry’ Taser – where the gun is held against the target to cause shock and pain – when he refused to co-operate.

He was then arrested and escorted from the airport.

Abusive: The drunk naked passenger captured on video

A spokesman added: “Police were called to Terminal One arrivals of Manchester Airport following reports a man was drunk and being abusive to passengers on a flight from Malta.

“As he left the plane, he took his clothes off and urinated against a wall.

“A 52-year-old man was dry tasered and arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly in a public place. He was issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice.”

An easyJet spokesman said: “The passenger had arrived into Manchester on flight EZY1328 from Malta.

“The safety and security of its passengers and crew is easyJet’s highest priority and, like all airlines, disruptive behaviour is taken seriously.

"The passenger was met by the police as a result of his behaviour.”

Do you know who the man is?

5 Reasons Why Beer Might Actually Be Good For You

Different glasses of different types of beerThe threat of beer bellies is very much a reality, but…

…beer may not be as bad as you’ve been led to believe.
Beer Benefits
Did you know that beer is actually made of just four simple ingredients: water, barley, hops and yeast?
1. While wine usually gets all the accolades for its antioxidant benefits, beer and wine actually contain similar amounts of antioxidants.
2. The protein and B-vitamin content of beer is higher than wine. However, even though beer is a good source of B vitamins, the alcohol in it mostly cancels out the benefits.
3. Beer offers anywhere from 95 to 360 calories in a 12-ounce serving, with the average bottle of beer in the 150-calorie range.
4. One to two beers a day is good for your bones. Beer contains silicon, which is linked to bone strength and health.
5. “Light” actually refers to the percent of alcohol and calories. Higher-alcohol beers have more calories, so if you’re watching your weight, a Guinness is actually about the same as a Bud.
Beer Best Practices
Once again, when it comes to drinking any type of alcohol, moderation is and will always be key. According to the CDC, to stay healthy while enjoying a drink, women should not consume more than one alcohol serving a day, and men should drink no more than two servings a day.

P. Diddy at 43 yrs says he doesn't plan to propose to his girlfriend or to anyone else anytime soon!

GQ Men Of The Year Party - Inside
Diddy and his artist-turned-girlfriend Cassie have been dating for a few years, but the hip-hop mogul revealed on a recent episode of “The View” that he doesn’t plan on popping the question to her, or anyone else, anytime soon.
The 43-year-old told Barbara Walters that he’s not looking to get married because he’s not “ready for that responsibility” yet.
“It definitely would be a dream come true for me to just one day just be ready for that,” he said. “The thing is, I’m not really looking because I know the responsibility that comes with that and I think that a lot of people, they jump into that and they’re not honest with themselves. I’m brutally honest with myself. If I’m ready for that responsibility, I think in due time.
The father of six went on the say that he wants to do the marriage thing right the first time.
“I don’t want to get married and not make that woman be the best,” he said. “I’m a big baby in a grown man’s body. I’ve been close to it and when I’m ready I’ll make the announcement, but when I do it, I’m doing it forever. Know that.”
He added, “I think a lot of people put too much on marriage and not enough on happiness. I’m happy, anybody that is in my life is happy…at least some of the days [laughs]. I just want to be happy and I think it’s important for you to protect your happiness and to love yourself, because then you can love other people the right way.”
Diddy did make a few good points; of course you should be happy before you say “I do.” But, do you think that is the real reason he’s never made a trip down the aisle? The Bad Boy CEO was in a decade-long relationship with Kim Porter and a high-profile relationship with Jennifer Lopez, but either of these situations need with even an engagement.
From the looks of things, Diddy may fall into the “celebs who value their careers over marriage” category with Oprah and Jamie Foxx.  Now don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with that but if that’s the case then just say it. We just hope he’s not stringing Cassie, 16 years his junior, along with a hope and a dream.

UK firm seeks to market world's first malaria vaccine...Hope for malaria vaccines by 2015!

Malaria infected mosquitoes
Experts say that if malaria is to be defeated, the battle against it must be unrelenting

British drug maker GlaxoSmithKline is seeking regulatory approval for the world's first malaria vaccine after trial data showed that it had cut the number of cases in African children.

Experts say that they are optimistic about the possibility of the world's first vaccine after the trial results.

Malaria, a mosquito-borne parasitic disease, kills hundreds of thousands of people worldwide every year.

Scientists say an effective vaccine is key to attempts to eradicate it.

The vaccine known as RTS,S was found to have almost halved the number of malaria cases in young children in the trial and to have reduced by about 25% the number of malaria cases in infants.

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is developing RTS,S with the non-profit Path Malaria Vaccine Initiative (MVI), supported by funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

"Many millions of malaria cases fill the wards of our hospitals," said Halidou Tinto, a lead investigator on the RTS,S trial from Burkina Faso.

Mosquito larvae file photo
Malaria is caused by protozoan parasites that are transmitted by the bites of mosquitoes

"Progress is being made with bed nets and other measures, but we need more tools to battle this terrible disease."

The malaria trial was Africa's largest-ever clinical trial involving almost 15,500 children in seven countries.

The findings were presented at a medical meeting in Durban, South Africa.

"Based on these data, GSK now intends to submit, in 2014, a regulatory application to the European Medicines Agency (EMA)," GSK said in a statement..

The company has been developing the vaccine for three decades,

The statement said that the hope now is that the Geneva-based World Health Organization (WHO) may recommend the use of the RTS,S vaccine from as early as 2015 if EMA drugs regulators back its licence application.

Testing showed that 18 months after vaccination, children aged five to 17 months had a 46% reduction in the risk of clinical malaria compared to unvaccinated contemporaries.

But in infants aged six to 12 weeks at the time of vaccination, there was only a 27% reduction in risk.

A spokeswoman for GSK told the AFP news agency that the company would file its application to the EMA under a process aimed at facilitating new drugs for poorer countries.

Africa has 55 billionaires... far more than previously thought

Isabel dos Santos
Isabel dos Santos is the only Angolan listed as a billionaire

Africa has 55 billionaires, far more than previously thought, Nigeria-based Ventures financial magazine says.

They include three women - the mother of Kenya's president, a daughter of Angola's president and a Nigerian oil tycoon and fashion designer.

The richest man is Nigeria's Aliko Dangote, with a fortune of $20.2bn (£12.5bn), Ventures said.

The list is likely to reignite debate about inequality between rich and poor people in Africa, correspondents say.

In April, the World Bank said the number of people living in extreme poverty in Africa had risen in the past three decades from 205 million to 414 million.
'Conservative estimate'
A report earlier this month by research group Afrobarometer suggested that economic growth in Africa was primarily benefiting a small elite.

This is the first time the respected Ventures magazine has published a list of rich Africans, reports the BBC's Tomi Oladipo reports from Nigeria's main city Lagos.

The 55 billionaires it has identified are more numerous than the 16 listed by US financial magazine Forbes last year.

It was able to identify dozens more billionaires by using "on-the-ground knowledge" to overcome hurdles that may have "hampered" other researchers, Ventures said.

The magazine estimated the 55 billionaires' combined fortunes at $143.88bn, an average of a $2.6bn per person.

Of the 55, 20 are Nigerian, nine are South African and eight are Egyptian, Ventures said.

The richest woman is Nigeria's Folorunsho Alakija, who made her $7.3bn fortune mainly in the country's oil industry, it added.

She also studied fashion in London and made dresses for Maryam Babangida, the late wife of Nigerian military ruler Ibrahim Babangida, Ventures said.

Isabel Dos Santos, an Angolan investor and the eldest daughter of Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos, together with Ngina Kenyatta, the mother of Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta, also made the cut, it added.

Ventures listed Harvard-trained businessman Allan Gray as South Africa's richest man, with a fortune of $8.5bn.

"This media-shy South African moneyman controls two investment companies that collectively manage over $50bn in assets," Ventures said.

Nathan Kirsh, a property tycoon in the tiny kingdom of Swaziland, also made it on the list.

He is worth $3.6bn, and has business interests in London and New York, Ventures said.

Ventures editor-in-chief Oozo Eewala told the BBC's Focus on Africa radio programme that its estimate of 50 billionaires was probably conservative.

"There is this culture of you don't necessarily want to show your wealth, considering the gap between rich and poor," he said.

"If you have a lot of money, there are a lot of people that you have to support so we think people may be a little reluctant to be all splashy about what they have and what their assets are."

Kokori women, who protested nude over the weekend, form shield around Igban shrine to prevent soldiers from destroying it

WOMEN in Kokori, the country home of arrested suspected Delta State kingpin, Kelvin Oniarah, who protested nude, weekend, over alleged desecration of the community’s ‘Igban’ shrine by soldiers, formed a human shield around the shrine, yesterday, to stop military men from destroying it.

It was gathered that the women, who alleged that they saw soldiers with motor-saws, yesterday morning, formed a wall around the shrine and dared the soldiers to shoot them.
The women said they would rather die than allow soldiers to despoil the community shrine, which is a symbol of their tradition. At 12noon, the women were still in a running battle with soldiers, who they prevented from entering the shrine.
The irate women had on Saturday evening marched round the community, reigning curses on soldiers for coming back to destroy the shrine after the first attempt. The angry women were joined, Sunday morning, by youths, who also deposited a coffin at the palace of their embattled monarch, Ogurime-Rime, Ukori 1, which they broke into and vandalized. It was gathered that Sunday protest by women and youths was to show their anger over the disquieting silence of the monarch, his chiefs and leaders of Kokori in the face of the siege to the community by security agents.

However, Kokori Elites, who met in Warri, Sunday, decried the invasion of the community by soldiers, destruction of Kokori shrine and arrest of the Ose Egba, who is only the chief priest of the shrine, belonging to the entire community. The elites urged government to withdraw soldiers from the community, as they were causing tension and aggravating the already bad situation with their actions.
A committee, which included Chief Efe Akpofure, SAN, Chief Peter Igho, Roselinne Eshalomi , Chief William Onakpome as members was set up to liaise with the government on one hand, the women and youths on the other, on how to resolve the problem.
The elites also frowned at the role of a vigilance group leader from Ughelli, who was alleged to have led soldiers to the shrine, saying tthat he destruction of the shrine was at the root of the problem. While they condemned criminality by any of their children, the leaders said the issue of non-development of Kokori should not be swept aside and called for understanding of government for the plight of the people. They called for the release of the chief priest, Michael Omonigho.

Mutilated body of missing female lawyer found in her chambers

Police in Abuja are investigating the suspected murder of a female lawyer, Mrs. Ijeoma Micah, whose lifeless body was found mutilated, yesterday, in her chambers in the highbrow Maitama area of Abuja.

Ijeoma, the owner of Micah and Micah Chambers, was found dead in her office three days after she was said to have gone missing.

Her husband, who it was learnt, arrived from London on Sunday morning, rushed to her office, as it was gathered that he had not heard from her for three days, only to discover her lifeless body.

He reported the matter to Area Command of the police in Maitama.

Contacted on the development, Commissioner of Police FCT, Femi Ogunbayode, said that from investigations, it was discovered that some men had called Ijeoma to her office for some business, which she went for and afterwards, nothing was heard from her.

Ogunbayode told Vanguard that as a result of the killing, a security detail that was attached to Ifeoma was arrested and was being interrogated for alleged complicity.

He said that since the security detail did not report the case to the police until her husband came back from abroad and discovered her body, he was therefore a suspect.

He added that the Forensic Investigation Unit at the FCT Command was already at the office, where she was allegedly killed and had commenced investigation into the matter.

Sympathisers in the area said that the Ifeoma’s husband broke the door of her office and on seeing the lifeless body of his wife, almost killed himself while crying.

It was also gathered that Ijeoma’s car had been missing from the usual parking spot in front of her office building.

PHOTOS/ VIDEO: Jada Pinkett Smith Publishes High School Pics Of She and Tupac

Jada Pinkett Smith published several photos of she and the late Tupac Shakur on her Instagram page that reveal a softer side of the hardcore west coast rapper.

The Daily Mail describes how the two became inseparable after meeting at the Baltimore School for the Arts back in the 1980s. Both shared a love for the arts, with Tupac studying acting, poetry, jazz, and surprisingly ballet. In the photo above, a youthful Tupac is shown looking very dapper in from of a school locker with Jada.

Here is more on Jada and Tupac’s relationship:

The pair remained very close until the rapper’s murder 17 years ago at an intersection in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The California Love singer was shot in a drive-by shooting as he sat in a car alongside fellow hip hop icon Suge Knight on September 7, 1996.

Shot a number of times, he was raced to a nearby hospital but died six days later at the age of just 25.

While extremely close, the pair were not speaking at the time of Tupac’s murder as despite not been romantically involved, they had a very volatile relationship.

In documentary Tupac: Resurrection the rapper said Jada was and will always be his friend.

The star said: ‘Jada is my heart. She will be my friend for my whole life.’

Sitting down with documentarians after his death, the actress called him ‘one of my best friends. He was like a brother.

‘It was beyond friendship for us. The type of relationship we had, you only get that once in a lifetime.’

Last year on the what would have been the rapper’s birthday, Jada posted a picture of herself receiving a big hug and a kiss from Tupac, who was wearing his signature bandana around his head.

The actress captioned the photograph with just the words: ‘I miss him.”

Jada married Will Smith a year after Tupac died. The photos reveal images of a loving hip hop relationship ripe with emotional depth and rich historical context.

They are a reminder of Tupac’s innocence and humanity that very few people ever knew.

UPDATE: Man Who Set Himself On Fire On The National Mall Has Died Of His Injuries

WASHINGTON — A District of Columbia police spokesman says a man who set himself on fire on the National Mall has died of his injuries. Officer Araz Alali says the man died Friday night at a Washington hospital where he had been airlifted. He says the man was so badly burned that he will need to be identified through DNA and dental records.

Just one day after Miriam Carey, 34, a Stamford, Connecticut dental hygienist, was killed by Washington, D.C. police after trying to ram her car through the White House security barrier, a man poured a can of gasoline on his head and set himself on fire on the National Mall, reports LA Times.

The man was airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, said D.C. fire department spokesman Tim Wilson.

The incident took place on the mall near the National Air and Space Museum. Two joggers attempted to help the man by ripping off their shirts and trying to put out the fire, but there wasn’t much they could do.

Law enforcement have not been able to determine a motive at this time.

“I’m not aware of any signage or any articulation of any causes,” said Lt. Pamela Smith of the U.S. Park Police, which is investigating along with the D.C. police department.

Business Partner: Jimmy Choo is just a cobbler, he did not design a single shoe for the multi-million dollar brand named after him!

Tamara Mellon has told how her business partner, Jimmy Choo did not design a single shoe for the multi-million dollar brand named after him.

During an interview this morning on the Today show, the 46-year-old revealed that she never received a sketch from him during the years they worked together; 'Not one', she clarified.

Unaware of Mr Choo's lack of design nous when they joined forces, she said that she had to quickly hone her skills and use experience from her fashion writing days to guide her.

Lifting the lid: Tamara Mellon has told how her business partner, Jimmy Choo, did not design a single shoe for the multi-million dollar brand named after him

Ms Mellon, who worked at British Vogue for five years soon after dropping out of school, said: 'The original idea was for Jimmy to design the collection and I would run the operations of the business.

'But it soon became very clear that Jimmy's skill was in making shoes. He’s a cobbler.'

In her new memoir, In My Shoes, the mother-of-one reveals how she turned to Mr Choo's niece, Sandra Choi for help.

While she would come up with the ideas, Ms Choi would sketch them out and the two of them would go to vintage stores along Portobello Road in London, to look for inspiration.

Not a design man: Ms Mellon said that Mr Choo, seen with a fashion student, was a skilled cobbler but lacked creative spark

Her creations soon became a hit with A-listers, including Victoria Beckham and Princess Diana, and in 1998 a pair made their way into the script of Sex And The City - turning Jimmy Choo into a household name overnight.

However, it was Mr Choo who went on to gain global recognition, not Ms Mellon.

Noting her increasing bitterness about the situation, she writes in another part of her book: 'By the end of 2000, Jimmy Choo was turning a profit of around £3 million a year.

'We had our own London boutique and were represented at 450 more stores, including Harrods and Selfridges.

'To top it off, we’d won a British Fashion Council Award, which Jimmy insisted on accepting on our behalf, even though his design contribution had been nil.'

Ms Mellon said from there her relationship with Mr Choo deteriorated to the point that any conversation was 'out of the question'.

Eventually, after much confrontation, Mr Choo sold his share in the company in 2001.

Ms Mellon, who remained with the firm until 2011, said the years that followed were tough as she dealt with the death of her father in 2004 and a divorce from her 'playboy' husband in 2005.

While it might have been more sensible for Ms Mellon to have gone into business alone, she admits that she met Mr Choo after going through a rough period in her life.

'One glass of wine for me turned into 6 o’clock in the morning and calling the coke dealer and then realizing, "Oh my God, I've got to be at work in three hours,'" she recalled.

After losing her job at Vogue at the age 27, Ms Mellon entered rehab. The experience marked a turning point for her. She emerged determined to pursue her dream of starting her own shoe business.

In my shoes: Ms Mellon offers a glimpse into her eventful life in her new memoir

That’s when she reached out to Mr Choo, a cobbler from London’s East End whom she knew from her Vogue days.

Today, armed with a wealth of business experience, she gearing up for the launch her own namesake label this fall.

The Tamara Mellon line will be carried online at tamaramellon.com and at stand-alone stores landing in New York, where she is based with her daughter 'Minty', in November and London by 2014.

The line will of course carry shoes, but also will include ready-to-wear clothing and handbags. She calls it 'affordable luxury' with a prices ranging from $295 to $4,500.

She concluded on the Today show: 'If I have a bid of equanimity now, and I'm better at standing my ground, it's only because I've fought my way through the rites of passage.

“I can't believe that it's actually happened . . . I had the dream and the vision. And now it's a reality.'

In her memoir, she attributes her success and determination to a childhood that revolved around a difficult relationship with her mother and unwavering support from her father.

Sinitta speaks out about aborting the baby she was expecting with Simon Cowell.

Sinitta has spoken out about aborting the baby she was expecting with Simon Cowell.

The singer - who dated the music mogul on and off for over twenty years - revealed she had an abortion in the 80s but has defended Cowell, saying he stood by her and was very supportive.

sinitta simon cowell

She told The Sun: "People are saying I aborted Simon's baby in 2009 and that he only found out the other day," Sinitta said. "That's all lies - I'd never do that to him.

"Reports saying this was something Simon knew nothing about and that I did it behind his back to hurt him, and that he is devastated and is exiling me are vile."

"It was a long time ago when we were both young. Simon was very concerned and by my side."

Sinitta also confessed that she had always dreamed of marrying the 'X Factor' boss and settling down with him.

"I have always admitted I wanted to marry him and have children with him - not just because I love him, but because I thought I would be good for him," she said.

"I think he thought he didn't want children and he would never want children. And I believed him," she added.

"I thought that one day we would have them. But it wasn't something we were fighting over. He was always honest with me and we had different life expectations."

And despite not getting her man, Sinitta insists she is happy for Simon and his girlfriend Lauren Silverman - who he is expecting a baby with.

"I still love Simon but I'm not 'in love' with him," she continued. "I haven't been in love with him for two or three years. I'm in a relationship with someone else now.

"[Lauren Silverman] is in love with him and he's in love with her. I'm happy for them and I mean that."

Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman

Sinitta had previously admitted she felt 'betrayed' by Cowell when she discovered Lauren Silverman was expecting his child.

Speaking about the moment she was told the news, Sinitta told The Mirror: “I was completely and utterly stunned. I was in such a daze, to the point where I wondered if I was dreaming it.

“He sounded… odd, calm, strange, which threw me. I don’t mind admitting all sorts of emotions were running around inside me.

“He was concerned about how I’d take it, which, on reflection, he didn’t need to be. He didn’t owe me that consideration.”

SHOOTING ON CAPITOL HILL: Wild car chase which started near the white house and ended minutes later in gunfire at the U.S. Capitol, leaves suspect dead

A police officer and K9 inspect the scene after a car chase and reports of gunshots fired outside of the Hart Senate Office Building on Captiol Hill on Thursday, October 3 in Washington. Police said the U.S. Capitol was put on security lockdown.
A police officer and K9 inspect the scene after a car chase and reports of gunshots fired outside of the Hart Senate Office Building on Captiol Hill on Thursday, October 3 in Washington. Police said the U.S. Capitol was put on security lockdown.

The female motorist who led police on a chase through the heart of Washington was hit by gunfire and pronounced dead, said D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier.

A U.S. Capitol Police officer injured during a police chase between the White House and the U.S. Capitol "is going to be fine," officials said Thursday evening. The officer is a 23-year veteran.

A wild car chase Thursday that started near the White House ended minutes later in gunfire at the U.S. Capitol, creating a chaotic scene of blaring sirens, locked-down lawmakers and bystanders hitting the dirt.

Two people were hospitalized -- the woman who drove the two-door black car that sped past iconic Washington landmarks and ran red lights with police cruisers in pursuit, and an officer in one of the police vehicles she rammed in trying to get away.

A young child in the black car with the woman appeared to be uninjured.

The dramatic events brought a swarm of emergency vehicles to the Capitol complex and caused Congress and surrounding offices to be temporarily locked down.

House and Senate sessions were immediately suspended, with legislators ordered to take cover and keep away from windows. Police also closed Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House.

CNN's Athena Jones, who was at a Senate office building near the Capitol, said she heard gunshots that sounded like fireworks.

The chase began when the woman driving the black vehicle got involved in some kind of verbal altercation with officers at a security checkpoint a block from the White House, an intelligence source told CNN.

As police cars arrived at the scene, the black vehicle sped away and headed toward the Capitol building.

Frank Schwing, a D.C. resident who was near the front of the Capitol, said several police vehicles stopped the black vehicle and officers "came out with their guns drawn."

The armed officers tried to open the passenger side door, he said.

"At that point, the driver slammed into reverse, slammed into a cruiser, did a 180 (degree turn), took off, and at that point, there were a half dozen or so shots fired," apparently all by small arms from police, Schwing told CNN.

Video footage by other witnesses showed the black vehicle then careening around a nearby traffic circle with a police car in close pursuit and then headed away. Shortly afterward, the black car crashed into security barriers a few blocks, witnesses said.

The woman was shot several times in the vehicle, sources told CNN, adding officers were not aware at the time there was a child passenger.

According to multiple sources, there was no reason so far to believe that the woman fired any shots or even had a weapon.

A task force prepared to execute a search warrant at her Connecticut home, law enforcement sources said.

In Congress, a Capitol Police bulletin said reports of gunshots required "all occupants in all House office buildings to shelter in place."

"Close, lock and stay away from external doors and windows," the bulletin said. Authorities later lifted the lockdown, with police saying they believed the incident was isolated with no connection to terrorism.

President Barack Obama was briefed on the situation, which occurred on the third day of a government shutdown due to a stalemate in Congress over government funding.

"The timing on this was really kind of scary," said Republican Rep. Blake Farenthold of Texas. "Capitol Hill police are at a lower personnel level because of the shutdown."

Bend the front knee and lean your body forward, keeping your back leg in place.
Alternate legs. Lean as far forward as possible and do as many reps as you can handle.

Most popular lunge variations

Pulse lunge – Put your feet hip width apart, then bring a rope overhead and stretch it tight. Make a step forward with your right foot into a lunge, forming 90 degree angle with your knees. Now slowly pulse up and down by an inch. Do it 10 times. Repeat the same exercise with the other leg.

Jumping lunge – Stepping forward with your left foot, lower into a lunge position. Jump off the floor, swing arms forward and switch your legs in midair, just like scissors. You should land in a lunge position with your right leg forward. Repeat several times.

Reverse lunge – Put your legs next to each other, hold your hands on your hips and line them with your shoulders. Step back with your right leg and bring it down. You can lean your knee on the ground, but try not to rest it. Come back up and do it again, now switching legs. Exhale when coming up, inhale when going down.

Here’s how they are done.
Stand and pull one knee up high. Put your foot down and pull up your other knee. Alternate knees and increase your speed.
The best thing about these floor exercises is that you can do them anywhere there is a floor and some open space.
Do them at home, outside, even in your office.
Once you have mastered each technique and determined how many reps you can do for each exercise, set goals for yourself and exercise regularly.
