The Armageddon virus: Why experts fear a disease that leaps from animals to humans could devastate mankind in the next five years

High security: The high security unit where the man was treated for the potentially fatal disease but later died

Warning comes after man died from a Sars-like virus that had previously only been seen in bats

Earlier this month a man from Glasgow died from a tick-borne disease that is widespread in domestic and wild animals in Africa and Asia

Armageddon: Scientists have warned that a global viral outbreak is inevitable within five years

The symptoms appear suddenly with a headache, high fever, joint pain, stomach pain and vomiting.

As the illness progresses, patients can develop large areas of bruising and uncontrolled bleeding. In at least 30  per cent of cases, Crimean-Congo Viral Hemorrhagic Fever is fatal.

And so it proved this month when a 38-year-old garage owner from Glasgow, who had been to his brother’s wedding in Afghanistan, became the UK’s first confirmed victim of the tick-borne viral illness when he died at the high-security infectious disease unit at London’s Royal Free Hospital.
Potentially deadly: The man suffered from CCHF, a disease transmitted by ticks (pictured) which is especially common in East and West Africa
It is a disease widespread in domestic and wild animals in Africa and Asia — and one that has jumped the species barrier to infect humans with deadly effect.

Celeb Gossip: Tiwa Savage and manager in public display of affection…Are they officially dating?

Tiwa Savage is one of Nigeria’s most talented singers and songwriters.

That she is beautiful is no news. She is an embodiment of sexiness and has a captivating aura and personality.

Until recently Tiwa Savage had not been linked romantically with anyone, except if you count the rumoured-but -vehemently-denied relationship with Mavin Records boss Don Jazzy.

Is that is about to change?

The Mavin first lady was seen at the Elite Model Look 2012 recently held in Lagos in company of her beau Manager Tee Billz, and the pair looked like an Item – eye witnesses say they both stepped on the red carpet in style as they posed for photographs.

Tiwa is usually alone on the red carpet so it really was a big deal this time, since she had company, as all attention quickly shifted to the couple, and the cameramen kept clicking away.

Tiwa Savage and her manger Tee Billz seemed to enjoy all the attention, and he may have used that opportunity to pass on a message as she planted a soft kiss on Tiwa’s cheek, whose face lit up instantly.

We’re told they did not spend a moment away from each other during the event and the after party.

Is this a confirmation of what many have been suspecting? Or just an innocent PDA between two people who work very closely and are fond of each other?

What do you think?

VIDEO: JUMPING FROM SPACE...Felix Baumgartner's skydive record attempt as it happened

Felix Baumgartner speaks of the emotional strain after his record-breaking skydive that saw him fall faster than the speed of sound.

Felix Baumgartner, a 43-year-old former military parachutist, floated for two hours in a purpose-built capsule towed by an enormous helium balloon before leaping into the record books from 128,000ft – almost four times the height of a cruising passenger airline.

He broke the current freefall record of 19.5 miles held by Joe Kittinger. Mr Kittinger, who set his record in 1960, was the only person allowed to communicate with Mr Baumgartner while he was inside the capsule which carried him into space.

As the launch began, Mr Kittinger told Mr Baumgartner: “You’re doing great, Felix. Doing great. Everything looks green and you are on your way to space.”

Mr Baumgartner’s parents were in Roswell, New Mexico for the launch, the first time they had travelled outside of Europe. His mother could be seen weeping as her son launched into space.

Preliminary figures show the Austrian skydiver reached a maximum speed of 833.9 miles per hour (1,342 kilometres per hour).

That amounts to Mach 1.24, which is faster than the speed of sound. No one has ever reached that speed wearing only a high-tech suit.

NOT AGAIN!! Man Burnt To Death For Stealing Necklace In Warri

With the Aluu 4 case still going on, another case of lynching which occurred in Warri, Nigeria, is being reported all over the internet. The actual date when this lynching occurred has not yet been verified by us.
The man allegedly stole a neck chain in one of the popular markets and the people who caught him felt the best way to go about the issue was by burning him to death. The faces of the muderers are shown in the video (but Youtube has pulled it down).
I hope the police would be quick to arrest the suspects as there was video evidence showing the babaric nature of the youths.
