Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, has been named amongst the 100 most influential people in the world, describing the 34 year old as “Africa’s most renowned leading lady.”
The Nigerian actress was named in the 2013 icons segment of the list alongside young Pakistani activist; Malala Yousafzai, US first lady Michelle Obama, Burmese democracy leadey; Aung San Sun Kyi, RnB diva; Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Italian footballer; Mario Balloteli.
Others in the category are Duchess of Cambridge; Kate Middleton, Chinese tennis champion; Li Na, three times Oscar award winner; Daniel Day-Lewis.
Writing a profile on the actress who recently launched a reality show about her life on M-NET; Richard Corliss, a movie critic, descried Omotola as the “Queen of Nollywood.”
“Called OmoSexy by her fans, she has made 300 or so features, from the 1996 Mortal Inheritance to the 2010 super production Ijé, shot partly on location in Los Angeles. Married to an airline pilot she wed on a flight from Lagos to Benin, Jalade-Ekeinde brings a juggler’s grace to her roles as actress, singer, reality-show star, mother of four and philanthropist (the Omotola Youth Empowerment Programme)” the profile reads.
The movie critic was full admiration of Omotola’s recent claim in an interview that she will never go to Hollywood, writing that “success hasn’t spoiled Africa’s most renowned leading lady. Rather than going Hollywood, Omotola wants to stay Nollywood.”
According to Collins, Nollywood is the world’s most productive English-language film industry is not Hollywood but Nollywood.
“The world’s most productive English-language film industry is not Hollywood but Nollywood. The teeming Nigerian cinema grinds out some 2,500 movies a year, mostly direct-to-DVD quickies mixing melodrama, music and an evangelical Christian spin. (Think Bollywood via Tyler Perry.)”
“Employing a million Nigerians, Nollywood enthralls millions more who come for the thrills, the uplift and the artful agitations of Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde — the Queen of Nollywood.”

‘Medical doctor’ nabbed for working with stolen certificates for one year

‘Medical doctor’ works with stolen certificates for one year
Michael Akorful Onyeagolo who claimed to be a medical practitioner with a popular hospital in Festac Lagos, was yesterday arrested by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria and Lagoa State Health Facility Monitoring Agency (HEFAMA) for impersonation. Onyeagolo 28, aka Dr. Hilary Abiwu, confessed that he was not a medical doctor. He said he stole the certificates from a doctor in Ghana.
Michael who hails from Imo State had been practising until nemesis caught up with him when he mismanaged a patient who was brought to the hospital. He said, “I was in school in Ukraine but could not graduate. I ran away from the school because I was to be arrested for being a witness to a crime. I went out to a joint with my friends one day and there was a fight. In the course of the fight, somebody died. The police arrested the guy and were looking for me. So I ran away.” On how he began to practice, he said a friend of his name Obinna Uche, a businessman gave him the certificates with which he had been working.
“When I ran away from the school, I went to meet my friend Obinna who gave me the documents. So, I came down to Nigeria and obtained a licence to practice.” Michael after much interrogation, by Dr. Okwuokenye Henry and Dr. Theophilus Ajayi, admitted that he stole the certificates by himself from Dr. Abiwu Hilarious. Dr. Henry Okwuokenye, HOD, Inspectorate Department of MDCN who led the team, said the certificate was not given to Michael by anybody, adding that he lived with Dr. Abiwu for two months and stole the doctor’s certificates. “From our investigation, it was revealed that he stole the documents from Dr. Abiwu who resides in Ghana.
When Michael came to us, he presented himself as the owner of the documents and registered for our assessment examination that is done by all trained foreign medical doctors. He did the examination twice and failed and on the third sitting, he passed and we gave him a provisional licence. In the process of verifying his documents, we discovered that his certificates were stolen from another doctor in Ghana.
We contacted the Medical and Dental Council Ghana who gave us the relevant documents and the real photograph of the doctor, who also wrote to us.” “Since then, we have been looking for him until report came to us that he mismanaged a patient. That was how we got his address.” Okwuokenye advised all quack doctors in Nigeria to desist from their evil practices adding, that the Registrar (MDCN), Dr. Ibrahim Abdumumin had vowed to rid the society of quacks in the medical field.

Suspicious highly toxic substance found on letter sent to President Obama

By Mike Brooks and Dana Bash, WASHINGTON (CNN) — A letter addressed to President Barack Obama that contained a “suspicious substance” has been intercepted at the White House’s off-site mail facility, a Secret Service spokesman said Wednesday.
The letter arrived Tuesday, the same day as an envelope addressed to a U.S. senator that initially tested positive for the deadly poison ricin.
Further testing took place Wednesday on an envelope addressed to a U.S. senator’s office that initially tested positive for the deadly poison ricin, the FBI said.
The envelope was intercepted Tuesday at the U.S. Capitol’s off-site mail facility in Washington, congressional and law enforcement sources tell CNN.
Coming on the day after the Boston Marathon bombings, the envelope further heightened security concerns at a time when Congress is considering politically volatile legislation to tough gun laws and reform the immigration system.
“Monday’s attack in Boston reminded us that terrorism can still strike anywhere at any time,” Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said Wednesday. “And as yesterday’s news of an attempt to send ricin to the Capitol reminds us, it is as important as ever to take the steps necessary to protect Americans from those who would do us harm.”

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said he was told the envelope was addressed to the office of Sen. Roger Wicker, a conservative Republican from Mississippi.
A laboratory in Maryland confirmed the presence of ricin after initial field tests also indicated the poison was present, according to Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Terrance Gainer.
However, the FBI said additional testing was needed because field and preliminary tests produce inconsistent results.
“Only a full analysis performed at an accredited laboratory can determine the presence of a biological agent such as ricin,” according to the bureau. “Those tests are in the process of being conducted and generally take from 24 to 48 hours.”
In a statement late Tuesday, the U.S. Capitol Police said further tests would be conducted at the Army’s biomedical research laboratory at Fort Detrick, Maryland.
The envelope had a Memphis, Tennessee, postmark and no return address, Gainer wrote in an e-mail to senators and aides.

Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Missouri, told reporters after a briefing for lawmakers that a suspect has already been identified in the incident, but a knowledgeable source said no one was in custody Tuesday night.
Wicker has been assigned a protective detail, according to a law enforcement source.
Postal workers started handling mail at a site off Capitol Hill after the 2001 anthrax attacks that targeted then-Majority Leader Tom Daschle, D-Nebraska, and Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vermont, among others.
Senators were told Tuesday that the mail facility would be temporarily shut down “to make sure they get everything squared away,” McCaskill said Tuesday afternoon.
“The bottom line is, the process we have in place worked,” she said, adding that members of Congress will be warning their home-state offices to look out for similar letters.
McConnell, R-Kentucky, also praised the postal workers and law enforcement officers for “preventing this threat before it even reached the Capitol.”
“They proved that the proactive measures we put in place do in fact work,” he said.

A previous ricin scare hit the Capitol in 2004, when tests identified a letter in a Senate mailroom that served then-Majority Leader Bill Frist’s office. The discovery forced 16 employees to go through decontamination procedures, but no one reported any ill effects afterward, Frist said.
Ricin is a highly toxic substance derived from castor beans. As little as 500 micrograms — an amount the size of the head of a pin — can kill an adult. There is no specific test for exposure and no antidote once exposed.
It can be produced easily and cheaply, and authorities in several countries have investigated links between suspect extremists and ricin. But experts say it is more effective on individuals than as a weapon of mass destruction.

Ricin was used in the 1978 assassination of Bulgarian dissident Georgi Markov. The author, who had defected nine years earlier, was jabbed by the tip of an umbrella while waiting for a bus in London and died four days later.

Solomon Akiyesi married twice before recent wedding scandal (Photos)....Lilian got paid back in her own coin!

It has been revealed that Nollywood actor, Solomon Akiyesi, whose wedding to another woman was disrupted last Saturday by his legally married wife, Lilian, has actually been married twice, making it his third time of going to the altar in the last ten years (traditional Wedding On April 18,2003)

According to SDK, “Mr Akiyesi was still married to Ezinne in Port-Harcourt (they are still married) when he married Lilian and was still married to Ezinne and Lilian when he tried to marry Uloma.”

Concerned friends of Ezinne (the first legally married wife) claim that Lilian knew Solomon was married yet got married him years ago. The same fate that befell Uloma (the unlucky bride) on Saturday almost happened then but Ezinne decided to play mature by letting the wedding hold while “she called on God to intervene”.

Find pictures of Solomon Akiyesi’s wedding to Ezinne – his very first wife below:

Meanwhile, Solomon, who is not moved by the ugly incident that occured on Saturday claims that he ”almost hammered if not for quick intervention” that is, he was getting married to Uloma who is quite financially stable for her money!

The story is according to #CampEzinne is that ”Solomon began dating Lilian when he was still married to Ezinne and despite all the warnings from Ezinne,Lilian refused to leave Solomon alone so Ezinne left him alone and Solomon took a walk and moved out but was in contact with Ezinne and had been begging her up until last month to let them begin afresh”.

The report:

According to #CampEzinne, Ezinne broke down on the day Solomon was marrying Lilian and it didnt occur to her to walk in and ‘scatter’ the venue of the wedding, her friends suggested it to her but she didn’t want to…She wanted to sue but family prevailed on the matter.how could she sue her first love?”

Ezinne and Solomon are still Married but do not live in the same house.
They had Traditional and Church wedding Ceremonies on April 20,2003 and the reception was at LA kings stadium road in Portharcourt..

Members of #CampEzinne who were at her Wedding and were with her when Solomon was marrying Lilian insist that Lilian is the Real husband snatcher and got paid back in her own coin,They insist that the law of Retributive Justice prevailed.A.k.a If you do me,person go do you back.
