  • The NBA star was arrested on suspicion of DUI in the early hours of Thursday morning
  • Lamar was being held on $15,000 bail but has now been released from custody
  • TMZ report that Lamar was visited by two drug counselors hours before his arrest

Trouble: Lamar Odom, seen making a stop at Taco Bell on Wednesday, was arrested for DUI in the early hours of Friday morning

On Friday morning, Khloe's husband Lamar Odom was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in the early hours of Friday morning.

The NBA star, 33, was held at Van Nuys police station on $15,000 bail but was released from custody at 8.30am.

He was pulled over just before 4am for driving too slow at 50mph on the 101 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley.

Odom did not immediately respond to police, passing three exits and driving erratically, TMZ reports.

He failed numerous field sobriety checks but refused all chemical tests, according to police.

Booking sheet: The NBA star is understood to have failed several sobriety tests

The California Highway Patrol public information officer, told Radar Online: 'Lamar Odom was driving 50 mph on the 101 freeway. He was driving in a serpentine manner which is pretty bad. That is like when the officer does a freeway break. Across all the lanes of the freeway. I’m surprised he wasn’t rear ended.'

After 'failing' field sobriety tests, he was taken into custody and Tang said: 'He did what no one should ever do, he refused the chemical tests.

'That means that his license is revoked and Lamar could get the most powerful attorney in the world and he is still not going to have a license for a year.'

To make matters worse, it has now been revealed that Lamar was paid a visit by two drug councelors just hours before he was charged with a DUI.

TMZ reports that the counselors - who work with the National Basketball Players Association - contacted Lamar to offer help and he accepted.

Two Kenyan men sign an agreement to "marry" the same woman.

Sylvester Mwendwa
Sylvester Mwendwa said he would pay the bride price

Two Kenyan men have signed an agreement to "marry" the same woman.

The woman had been having affairs with both men for more than four years and apparently refused to choose between them.

The agreement sets out a rota for Sylvester Mwendwa and Elijah Kimani to stay in her house and states they will both help raise any children she bears.

Mr Mwendwa told the BBC he loved the woman and said the contract would "set boundaries" and "keep the peace".

Lawyers said the "marriage" would only be recognised if they could prove polyandry - a woman having more than one husband - was part of their custom.

The BBC's David Okwembah in the capital, Nairobi, says polyandry is not practised by any community in Kenya.

People have reacted with shock to the "marriage", arguing that it is not acceptable in terms of their culture, religion or the law, he says.

Defending the "marriage", Mr Mwendwa told the BBC Focus on Africa programme that while he may acting in breach of the law, he had decided to enter into a contract with Mr Kimani to end their rivalry.

"It could have been very dangerous if the other man would have come to her house and caught me... So our agreement is good as it sets boundaries and helps us keep peace."
'No jealousy'
Community policing officer Adhalah Abdulrahman persuaded the two men to marry the woman after he saw them fighting over her in Mombasa county, the local Daily Nation newspaper reports.

"We have agreed that from today we will not threaten or have jealous feelings because of our wife, who says she's not ready to let go of any of us," the agreement says, Kenya's NTV station reports.

"Each one will respect the day set aside for him. We agree to love each other and live peacefully. No-one has forced us to make this agreement," it adds.

Mr Mwendwa said her parents had given their blessing, while he is planning to pay the bride price.

The woman, a widow with two children, did not want to be named.

Mr Mwendwa told the BBC he did not marry the woman simply to satisfy his sexual desires but because he loved her and, most of all, her children.

"I have never been called a dad and her two children call me daddy," he said.

He said he hoped to have his own children with the woman, but she would have to decide.

"She is like the central referee. She can say whether she wants me or my colleague," he added.

Kenyan family lawyer Judy Thongori told the Daily Nation that the law does not explicitly forbid polyandry.

"The laws we have do not talk about it but for such a union to be recognised in Kenya, it has to be either under the statutory law or as customary marriage. The question we should ask now is whether these people come from communities that have been practising polyandry," she is quoted as saying.

Do I look ugly to you? The blobfish, the pig-nosed turtle and the proboscis monkey compete to be world's UGLIEST animal

 The Axolotl

All animals are beautiful. Except, perhaps, for some of these. But just because they aren't as easy on the eye as a newborn puppy or a fluffy pony, it doesn't mean they don't need looking after. So the Ugly Animal Preservation Society (yep, it exists) has launched a campaign to save these endangered species and encourage young people into careers in conservation: they are searching for a new ugly mascot.

Namibia's Dillish Scoops the 2013 BBA U.S.$300,000 Prize

Namibia's Dillish Pearl Mathews has won the Big Brother Africa (BBA) reality TV show and will smile home with the $300,000 prize money.

In a finale of many shocks and twists, the undergraduate from Windhoek beat five other housemates who made the grand finale of the show.

Dillish Mathews, who finished in second place in a Miss Universities pageant held in Benin, Nigeria, was saved five times from possible eviction by Africa. She never won a Head of House (HoH) task nor any 'Power of No' over the 13-week period of the show. Five countries: Angola, Kenya, Namibia, Tanzania and Uganda voted to ensure Dillish's triumph.

Nigeria's Melvin Oduah, the man touted by many to win, in a shocking twist, finished a distant third runner-up spot. He could only secure Nigeria and the Rest of Africa's country votes. Beverly Ada Osu, the other Nigerian in the finale, got the Ethiopian's vote to finish just behind Melvin in 5th place.

Many Nigerians had expected Melvin to go all the way after finishing in second place in both the 'Mr Nigeria' and 'Gulder Ultimate Search' competitions in his home country. In finishing 4th, the second-place syndrome tag is something he has to still live with.

Ghanaian tailor, Elikem Kumordzi, finished as the 2nd runner-up with votes from Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe and home country Ghana. He also won the Most Romantic Gesture prize that comes with $10,000 cash to splash over the course of an all-expense paid trip.

In winning Big Brother Africa, The Chase, Dillish becomes the third female winner after the triumphs of Zambia's Cherise Makubale in the first season and Nigeria's Karen Igho in the sixth.

Zambia's rap diva Clementina Mulenga finished closely in second place behind Dillish with votes from Botswana, Malawi, South Africa and Zambia.

The grand finale of shocks ensured that the three West African representatives who made the top 5 finished in positions way below expectations.

Dillish had promised to buy a house so she can live together with her siblings like real family if she won the $300,000 prize money.

*The BBA reality TV show has generated alot of controversy because of its 'promotion of immorality' contrary to strict african cultures and values. What are your views about the show? What are the changes you would like to see?

Shocking book reveals Gaddafi's sexual abuse of schoolgirls he kept locked in basement below fortress

  • Gaddafi chose schoolgirls and kept them as sex slaves, book claims
  • French journalist Annick Cojean's investigation includes story of 'Soraya' who says she was locked up for five years and repeatedly raped
  • Says male guards and boys were also raped by Muammar Gaddafi
  • Book already a bestseller in French and now translated into English
Colonel Muammar Gaddafi ordered the kidnap of schoolgirls, who were kept as sex slaves, according to an investigation

Colonel Gaddafi ordered the kidnap of schoolgirls who were then kept as sex slaves at compound, according to a book on the dictator.

One girl, named Soraya, was kidnapped when she was 15 and held for five years in a basement at his six-mile long fortress just outside Tripoli.

She says she was violently raped, beaten and abused on an almost daily basis and saw similar abuse of other girls and boys.

Her story and those of others who say they were raped by the despot are told in the book Gaddafi's Harem: The Story Of A Young Woman And The Abuses Of Power In Libya by French Le Monde journalist Annick Cojean.

It has sold more than 100,000 copies since it was published in French last year and the English translation will be released next month.

The journalist says men and boys were also raped and Gaddafi also pursued celebrities and the wives of foreign dignitaries.

According to her investigation, Ms Cojean says the female bodyguards he famously surrounded himself with, were in fact mistresses with no weapons knowledge.

Ms Cojean investigated Gaddafi's abuses of power after meeting Soraya (whose name has been changed), who told her harrowing story.

While still at school in the coastal town of Sirte, Soraya was given the 'honour' of presenting a bouquet of flowers to Gaddafi during a visit in 2004.

The book features the Soraya's story, who says she was kept for five years in a basement at Gaddafi's huge Tripoli compound Bab al-Azizia (pictured being demolished after his death in 2011)

Annick Cojean claims Gaddafi's female bodyguards were made up of mistresses with no weapons training

After presenting the flowers, Gaddafi, who had eight children, patted her head. She said this was a symbol to his aids that he wanted her.

The following day she was summoned to his palatial six-mile long compound near Tripoli, Bab al-Azizia, where she was stripped, shaved and taken to Gaddafi.

She said he was lying naked on the bed and tried to rape her.

When she fought him off, Soraya was taken away by head of the harem Mabrouka for 'lessons'.

She is quoted in the book as saying: 'He grabbed my hand and forced me to sit next to him on the bed. I didn't dare look at him.

'He said, "Don't be afraid. I'm your papa. That's what you call me, isn't it? But I'm also your brother and your lover. I'm going to be all that for you. Because you are going to stay and live with me forever."'

Soraya said she was repeatedly raped by Gaddafi after he chose her at a visit to her school in Sirte (pictured)

The book has been translated into English after selling 100,000 copies since it was published in French

The schoolgirl was given porn to view and was made to watch Gaddafi have sex with other so she could 'learn'.

Boys and his male guards were also raped by the tyrant, according to the book.

Soraya was eventually allowed home in 2009 but she says she is a shame to her family because she had sex outside marriage.

She said she only felt free from Gaddafi after his death in 2011 at the end of the civil war.

The book features interviews with a woman who ferried the girls to Gaddafi's compound and other victims.

Ms Cojean also alleges Gaddafi, who was married to Safia Farkash, pursued students and the wives of foreign dignitaries.

Ms Cojean was quoted in the New York Daily News as writing: 'It was not so much about seducing a woman as, through her, humiliating the man who is supposed to be responsible for her.'

Female visitors were routinely subjected to blood tests by Gaddafi's nurses to make sure they were disease free in case he wanted to have sex with them.

Marie Colvin, the Sunday Times journalist killed in Syria in 2012, reported that a nurse had approached her with a needle when she was in Tripoli to interview Gaddafi. She declined to give blood.
