PHOTOS/ VIDEO: Jada Pinkett Smith Publishes High School Pics Of She and Tupac

Jada Pinkett Smith published several photos of she and the late Tupac Shakur on her Instagram page that reveal a softer side of the hardcore west coast rapper.

The Daily Mail describes how the two became inseparable after meeting at the Baltimore School for the Arts back in the 1980s. Both shared a love for the arts, with Tupac studying acting, poetry, jazz, and surprisingly ballet. In the photo above, a youthful Tupac is shown looking very dapper in from of a school locker with Jada.

Here is more on Jada and Tupac’s relationship:

The pair remained very close until the rapper’s murder 17 years ago at an intersection in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The California Love singer was shot in a drive-by shooting as he sat in a car alongside fellow hip hop icon Suge Knight on September 7, 1996.

Shot a number of times, he was raced to a nearby hospital but died six days later at the age of just 25.

While extremely close, the pair were not speaking at the time of Tupac’s murder as despite not been romantically involved, they had a very volatile relationship.

In documentary Tupac: Resurrection the rapper said Jada was and will always be his friend.

The star said: ‘Jada is my heart. She will be my friend for my whole life.’

Sitting down with documentarians after his death, the actress called him ‘one of my best friends. He was like a brother.

‘It was beyond friendship for us. The type of relationship we had, you only get that once in a lifetime.’

Last year on the what would have been the rapper’s birthday, Jada posted a picture of herself receiving a big hug and a kiss from Tupac, who was wearing his signature bandana around his head.

The actress captioned the photograph with just the words: ‘I miss him.”

Jada married Will Smith a year after Tupac died. The photos reveal images of a loving hip hop relationship ripe with emotional depth and rich historical context.

They are a reminder of Tupac’s innocence and humanity that very few people ever knew.

UPDATE: Man Who Set Himself On Fire On The National Mall Has Died Of His Injuries

WASHINGTON — A District of Columbia police spokesman says a man who set himself on fire on the National Mall has died of his injuries. Officer Araz Alali says the man died Friday night at a Washington hospital where he had been airlifted. He says the man was so badly burned that he will need to be identified through DNA and dental records.

Just one day after Miriam Carey, 34, a Stamford, Connecticut dental hygienist, was killed by Washington, D.C. police after trying to ram her car through the White House security barrier, a man poured a can of gasoline on his head and set himself on fire on the National Mall, reports LA Times.

The man was airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, said D.C. fire department spokesman Tim Wilson.

The incident took place on the mall near the National Air and Space Museum. Two joggers attempted to help the man by ripping off their shirts and trying to put out the fire, but there wasn’t much they could do.

Law enforcement have not been able to determine a motive at this time.

“I’m not aware of any signage or any articulation of any causes,” said Lt. Pamela Smith of the U.S. Park Police, which is investigating along with the D.C. police department.

Business Partner: Jimmy Choo is just a cobbler, he did not design a single shoe for the multi-million dollar brand named after him!

Tamara Mellon has told how her business partner, Jimmy Choo did not design a single shoe for the multi-million dollar brand named after him.

During an interview this morning on the Today show, the 46-year-old revealed that she never received a sketch from him during the years they worked together; 'Not one', she clarified.

Unaware of Mr Choo's lack of design nous when they joined forces, she said that she had to quickly hone her skills and use experience from her fashion writing days to guide her.

Lifting the lid: Tamara Mellon has told how her business partner, Jimmy Choo, did not design a single shoe for the multi-million dollar brand named after him

Ms Mellon, who worked at British Vogue for five years soon after dropping out of school, said: 'The original idea was for Jimmy to design the collection and I would run the operations of the business.

'But it soon became very clear that Jimmy's skill was in making shoes. He’s a cobbler.'

In her new memoir, In My Shoes, the mother-of-one reveals how she turned to Mr Choo's niece, Sandra Choi for help.

While she would come up with the ideas, Ms Choi would sketch them out and the two of them would go to vintage stores along Portobello Road in London, to look for inspiration.

Her creations soon became a hit with A-listers, including Victoria Beckham and Princess Diana, and in 1998 a pair made their way into the script of Sex And The City - turning Jimmy Choo into a household name overnight.

However, it was Mr Choo who went on to gain global recognition, not Ms Mellon.

Noting her increasing bitterness about the situation, she writes in another part of her book: 'By the end of 2000, Jimmy Choo was turning a profit of around £3 million a year.

'We had our own London boutique and were represented at 450 more stores, including Harrods and Selfridges.

'To top it off, we’d won a British Fashion Council Award, which Jimmy insisted on accepting on our behalf, even though his design contribution had been nil.'

Ms Mellon said from there her relationship with Mr Choo deteriorated to the point that any conversation was 'out of the question'.

Eventually, after much confrontation, Mr Choo sold his share in the company in 2001.

Ms Mellon, who remained with the firm until 2011, said the years that followed were tough as she dealt with the death of her father in 2004 and a divorce from her 'playboy' husband in 2005.

While it might have been more sensible for Ms Mellon to have gone into business alone, she admits that she met Mr Choo after going through a rough period in her life.

'One glass of wine for me turned into 6 o’clock in the morning and calling the coke dealer and then realizing, "Oh my God, I've got to be at work in three hours,'" she recalled.

After losing her job at Vogue at the age 27, Ms Mellon entered rehab. The experience marked a turning point for her. She emerged determined to pursue her dream of starting her own shoe business.

In my shoes: Ms Mellon offers a glimpse into her eventful life in her new memoir

That’s when she reached out to Mr Choo, a cobbler from London’s East End whom she knew from her Vogue days.

Today, armed with a wealth of business experience, she gearing up for the launch her own namesake label this fall.

The Tamara Mellon line will be carried online at tamaramellon.com and at stand-alone stores landing in New York, where she is based with her daughter 'Minty', in November and London by 2014.

The line will of course carry shoes, but also will include ready-to-wear clothing and handbags. She calls it 'affordable luxury' with a prices ranging from $295 to $4,500.

She concluded on the Today show: 'If I have a bid of equanimity now, and I'm better at standing my ground, it's only because I've fought my way through the rites of passage.

“I can't believe that it's actually happened . . . I had the dream and the vision. And now it's a reality.'

In her memoir, she attributes her success and determination to a childhood that revolved around a difficult relationship with her mother and unwavering support from her father.

Sinitta speaks out about aborting the baby she was expecting with Simon Cowell.

Sinitta has spoken out about aborting the baby she was expecting with Simon Cowell.

The singer - who dated the music mogul on and off for over twenty years - revealed she had an abortion in the 80s but has defended Cowell, saying he stood by her and was very supportive.

She told The Sun: "People are saying I aborted Simon's baby in 2009 and that he only found out the other day," Sinitta said. "That's all lies - I'd never do that to him.

"Reports saying this was something Simon knew nothing about and that I did it behind his back to hurt him, and that he is devastated and is exiling me are vile."

"It was a long time ago when we were both young. Simon was very concerned and by my side."

Sinitta also confessed that she had always dreamed of marrying the 'X Factor' boss and settling down with him.

"I have always admitted I wanted to marry him and have children with him - not just because I love him, but because I thought I would be good for him," she said.

"I think he thought he didn't want children and he would never want children. And I believed him," she added.

"I thought that one day we would have them. But it wasn't something we were fighting over. He was always honest with me and we had different life expectations."

And despite not getting her man, Sinitta insists she is happy for Simon and his girlfriend Lauren Silverman - who he is expecting a baby with.

"I still love Simon but I'm not 'in love' with him," she continued. "I haven't been in love with him for two or three years. I'm in a relationship with someone else now.

"[Lauren Silverman] is in love with him and he's in love with her. I'm happy for them and I mean that."

Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman

Sinitta had previously admitted she felt 'betrayed' by Cowell when she discovered Lauren Silverman was expecting his child.

Speaking about the moment she was told the news, Sinitta told The Mirror: “I was completely and utterly stunned. I was in such a daze, to the point where I wondered if I was dreaming it.

“He sounded… odd, calm, strange, which threw me. I don’t mind admitting all sorts of emotions were running around inside me.

“He was concerned about how I’d take it, which, on reflection, he didn’t need to be. He didn’t owe me that consideration.”
