Vogue readers flood Twitter with backlash against its Kim Kardashian cover.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s cover for the April issue of Vogue has inspired a flood of backlash on Twitter today, where fashion influencers and everyday people are weighing in.
Many longtime Vogue subscribers are expressing how they feel ‘betrayed’ by the magazine’s staff, including editor Anna Wintour, for highlighting a reality star like Ms Kardashian.
The social media platform is also host to criticisms that question Ms Kardashian’s relevance among Vogue readers.

‘I feel betrayed by Anna Wintour and Vogue,’ writes subscriber Chris Liu, who also dispatched a tweet at the magazine saying ‘please do not send me the Kim Kardashian issue.’

Influential blogger Bryanboy wrote: ‘Twenty four years of loyalty to American Vogue and then this.’
Outspoken entertainment journalist Nikki Finke also took to her twitter to chime in on the cover, writing: 'I'm loving the big backlash aimed at Anna Wintour for putting Kim Kardashian on Vogue cover. Issue should come with barf bag.'
Former Buffy the Vampire Slayer Sarah Michelle Gellar tweeted that she is going to cancel her Vogue subscription over the cover.
'Well.....I guess I'm canceling my Vogue subscription. Who is with me???' she dispatched.

Other tweets implied how Ms Kardashian’s status as an E! reality star is of far lower caliber than Vogue’s legacy as a publication for elite facets of society.
A Twitter user known as Liam Calderone wrote: ‘Kim Kardashian and Vogue shouldn’t be put in the same sentence. End of.’

The Fashion Law, a blog not typically known for asserting an editorial opinion, deemed the cover  an exception appropriate for a strong opinion.

While these tweets remained relatively level-headed, others were more inflammatory.

BuzzFeed editor Matt Bellasai wrote: ‘I’m gonna buy the Kanye and Kim Vogue issue just so I can burn it.’
And another user, only known as Matt, wishes that the issue is a complete bomb.

He wrote: ‘I hope Vogue has the worst sales ever with this issue & they learn to never put that undeserving b**** anywhere near the magazine ever again.

While these opinions acknowledge Vogue's history as a publication for the wealthy and discerning, they do not recall how the magazine popularized placing celebrities, not models, on covers.
In an excerpt from Ms Wintour's April editor's letter, she writes that Vogue has made its mark by 'being able to feature those who define the culture at any given moment, who stir things up, whose presence in the world shapes the way it looks and influences the way we see it.
'I think we can all agree on the fact that that role is currently being played by Kim and Kanye to a T.'
