Evil mother and stepfather starved 4 yr old son, battered him and left him to die in a box room for 33 HOURS

  • Daniel Pelka, four, died after sustaining massive blow to the head
  • Mother Magdalena Luczak and partner Mariusz Krezolek found guilty of murdering the schoolboy after months of abuse
  • Daniel was forced to scavenge food from school bins in the final weeks of his life because he was so hungry
  • He arrived at school with a black eye and ended up looking 'like a bundle of bones' but no one stopped the abuse
  • Broken arm suffered 14 months before he died was investigated by police
  • But despite looking 'like an old man' and regularly injured he was not saved
  • Schoolboy's biological father says he hopes the killers rot in jail
  • He was 'imprisoned' in a tiny box room and forced to sleep on an old mattress in a room which stank of urine

Running after his mother, Daniel Pelka appears to be just like any other child in the playground at the end of a school day.

But 36 hours after this CCTV footage captured him leaving his friends, he was dead, murdered by his evil mother Magdelena Luczak, 27, and stepfather Mariusz Krezolek, 34.

They were both found guilty at Birmingham Crown Court today of the murder of the four-year-old who was starved so badly that he was forced to scavenge food from school bins and steal from classmates.

He suffered months of abuse in which he was regularly imprisoned in a locked room at the family home in Coventry, force-fed salt, and made to perform arduous punishment exercises.

The couple - who tried to blame each other for the abuse Daniel suffered - face life behind bars when they are sentenced on Friday.

  • Black eyes, a broken arm and reduced to a 'bag of bones' who scavenged from bins: The catalogue of missed chances to save Daniel Pelka
  • Cleaner to killer: The evil mother whose own sister and friends said she put love of drugs, alcohol and vile boyfriend before Daniel's basic needs
  • An overpowering stepfather who used Polish Army experience to speed boy's starvation and did not show a shred of remorse during 17 hours in the witness box

But despite the horrific abuse meted out by his mother and stepfather, teachers, the NHS and social workers missed all chances to save Daniel.

During his last two months of life, the child was also sent to school with two black eyes and observed by his class teacher to have bruising on his neck.

A serious case review into the horrifying circumstances of his death will examine why opportunities to save him were missed. The inquiry, set up by Coventry's Safeguarding Children Board, is also expected to scrutinise a failed investigation that was launched after Daniel's left arm was broken 14 months before he died.

After the case, Detective Inspector Chris Hanson described it as 'a callous and wretched murder'. He said the boy's mother and stepfather 'showed him no compassion, no care and not an ounce of kindness'.

Eryk Pelka, Daniel's biological father, said he hoped the two killers would 'rot' in prison.

The two killers, both originally from Poland, hid the horrifying abuse by claiming Daniel had an eating disorder.

Jurors were told how Daniel was left to die in his unheated 'cell' for around 33 hours after suffering a fatal head injury at his Coventry home on March 1 last year.

For at least five months before his death, Daniel was kept in the boxroom where he was imprisoned with nothing but a flimsy, stained mattress.

Luczak and Krezolek used vanilla-scented air fresheners to mask the smell of urine in the shabby room.

PHOTO: Simon Cowell cuddles up to the 'mother of his child' Lauren Silverman ... as her husband looks on

  • Lauren, 36, is said to be '10 weeks along' in the pregnancy

  • Pair have been seeing each other 'for a year and viewed houses together in Los Angeles'
  • Lauren told friends a few weeks ago that she wanted to marry the X Factor judge

It came totally out of the blue when it was claimed on Wednesday that Simon Cowell had fathered a baby with a New York socialite.

Pictures show the 53-year-old music mogul putting on a tactile display with Lauren Silverman, 36, as they enjoyed a cosy Caribbean holiday in January 2012 alongside her husband.

Whilst real estate mogul Andrew Silverman was just a mere matter of feet away, the striking brunette was seen tenderly running her hands through the hair of the X Factor boss.

Close friendship: Simon Cowell's close friendship with Lauren Silverman, who is said to be the mother of his unborn child, was clear to see as the pair holidayed together in St Barths in January 2012

Holiday trio: Lauren's real estate mogul husband, Andrew Silverman, emerged onto the deck to see his wife appearing to tickle Cowell's head

Too much sun: Andrew watched his wife giggle away with the millionaire music mogul

Enjoying a new year break in St Barths, the trio seemed to be in high spirits as they sat on-board Cowell's luxury yacht soaking up the sun as the sipped on glasses of orange juice.

And while the group appeared to be chatting away amiably, the pictures show the pop mogul certainly only had eyes for one of the Silvermans, with him seeming utterly unable to distract himself from the alluring Lauren.

With Andrew looking on, Cowell leaned in closely to the stunning socialite, with a smirk spreading across his face as he indulged in a close conversation with the beauty.

Close: The striking brunette tenderly ran her hands through the hair of the X Factor boss

Friendly: Both Lauren and her husband Andrew appeared to be close to the music boss as they enjoyed a Caribbean jaunt on board his luxury yacht some 18 months ago

Jolly holiday: Enjoying a new year break in St, Barths, the trio seemed to be in high spirits as they sat on-board Cowell's luxury yacht soaking up the sun as the sipped orange juice

But it wasn't long until the property entrepreneur got some quality time with his wife, as he tenderly cupped Lauren's bottom as Cowell looked on.

The star appeared utterly amused by the entire debacle, and grinned away as he stared at the couple.

After the two men enjoyed a brief chat, Lauren and Cowell made their way over to a sun lounger, where they kicked off a rather friendly display.

Sharing a secret? With Andrew looking on, Cowell leaned in closely to the stunning socialite, with a smirk spreading across his face as he indulged in some very close conversation with the beauty

Reclining with their heads tilted into each other, the pair appeared to be sharing a joke as they giggled away in the sunshine.

And despite her husband being in full view, the socialite ran her hands through the music mogul's hair, with the duo even posing for a phone picture together at one point.

Following their playful display, Lauren hopped up off the lounger, and appeared to bend down to treat the star to a friendly peck.

Man time: The two men then made their way to the side of the boat for a chat

Amorous: It wasn't long until the property entrepreneur got some quality time with his wife, with the tables turning as he tenderly cupped Lauren's bottom as Cowell looked on

While her face couldn't be seen in the angle of the shot, Lauren put her arm across Cowell as she leaned into him with her hair tumbling around her shoulders.

After his close pal wandered off to another part of the yacht, Cowell then stretched out with his arms behind his head and a huge smirk on his face.

A close friend of the X Factor multimillionaire confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that Lauren was expecting his child, and claimed she wanted to marry him.

Something to smile about? Rather than suffer from an attack of the green-eyed monster, the star appeared utterly amused by the situation, and grinned away as he stared at the couple

After the two men enjoyed a brief chat, Lauren and Cowell made their way over to a sun lounger, where they kicked off a rather close display

Although Lauren and her husband, who have a son together, have holidayed together on numerous occasions over the past four years, it wasn't until the socialite and her real estate mogul husband ended their union around a year ago that her friendship with Simon turned to romance.

A friend of Lauren's told of MailOnline: 'Lauren loves Simon, she says that she wants to marry him. And with the baby, she's going the right way about it! But I think this could be really good for Simon.'

Another friend confirmed the baby news and said 'yes, all true'.

Reclining with their heads tilted into each other, the pair appeared to be sharing a joke as they giggled away in the sunshine

Close friendship: Despite her husband being in full view, the socialite ran her hands through the music mogul's hair

Happy families: Lauren's husband was by their side for most of their morning on the yacht

Watchful eye? Andrew appeared to be keeping a close eye on his wife and the music mogul as they soaked up the sun on deck

However, Lauren's sister-in-law, also named Lauren, who works in real estate in New York told MailOnline: 'I have read the gossip. I have no knowledge whatsoever. I don’t know anything about it.'
Lauren, is said to be 'around 10 weeks along' in the pregnancy, according to Us Weekly magazine.

Cowell and Lauren's situation is made more complicated by the fact that she is still married to Andrew.

But sources have exclusively told MailOnline that the property magnate filed for divorce earlier this month.

Snap happy: The pair even appeared to be leaning in for a photograph together at one point

The couple, who have a seven-year-old son called Adam, are now officially separated. It is not known whether Mr Silverman filed the legal papers after learning of his wife’s pregnancy with Simon Cowell, although their break-up does leave his estranged wife free to start a new life with the music mogul.

He is being represented by Manhattan family lawyers Cohen Goldstein and filed his affidavit on July 24.
Cowell and Lauren are believed to have met while on vacation in Barbados some years ago through Mr Silverman.

However, a source revealed that there had been issues in the Silvermans' marriage right from the start – as Mr Silverman’s parents Eleonora and Allen never attended their wedding.

Fun in the sun: Following their playful display, Lauren hopped up off the lounger, and appeared to bend down to treat the star to a friendly peck

A source told MailOnline: ‘Andrew’s parents boycotted their wedding because they had their doubts about Lauren. They thought she was suspect.’

Andrew now believes Lauren started cheating on him with Simon during one of the many vacations they all shared together.

The pal added: ‘They would organise these month-long trips and Andrew would go for two weeks and then leave for business and Lauren would stay behind.

‘And people talked when she left their little boy at home and stayed away for a month.'

Good pals: While her face couldn't be seen in the angle of the shot, Lauren put her arm across Cowell as she leaned into him with her hair tumbling around her shoulders

Cowell, 53, and Lauren have been seeing each for at least a year, according to friends, and were even seen viewing houses together in Los Angeles in October 2012.

Cowell made no reference to impending fatherhood when he opened up to Chelsea Handler during an interview on her talk show on Tuesday night, sticking to topics including One Direction and his recent health kick.

It remains to be seen just how the news that he is to be a father will go down with Cowell, who has never made a secret of the fact that he doesn't believe he is the right material to become a parent.

Parents to be? A close friend of the X Factor multimillionaire confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that Lauren was expecting his child, and claimed she wanted to marry him

Firm friends: Although Lauren and her husband have holidayed together on numerous occasions over the past four years, it wasn't until the socialite and Andrew ended their union around a year ago that her friendship with Simon turned to romance

In an interview in 2009, Cowell said: 'God, no. I couldn't have children. If I had them here drawing on the walls I'd go nuts.

'With kids, you've got a routine you can't escape from. You've got to be up at a certain time. Got to listen. When all you want to do is sit in a corner thinking.'

However, in a more recent interview in April this year, Cowell appeared to have somewhat changed his mind, saying: 'I haven’t ruled it out. If I knew I could be - how do I put this delicately - faithful, I would.

Bundle of joy? Another friend confirmed the baby news to MailOnline and said 'yes, all true'

Plenty to talk about: The pair seemed to be deep in conversation as they kicked back and relaxed on board the luxury yacht

Plenty to smile about: After his close pal wandered off to another part of the yacht, Cowell was left looking like the cat who'd got the cream as he stretched out with a huge smirk on his face

25 Yr Undergraduate lynched to death by policemen, hoodlums

Policemen attached to the Badagry Police Division, Lagos State, and some hoodlums have been accused of killing a 25-year-old undergraduate of Delta State University, Ifechukwude Nwainokpor, and his friend, identified simply as Kazeem.

An eight-minute video clip of the gruesome killing showed the two victims handcuffed together. They were covered in their own blood and beaten to death with sticks. Tyres were also put round their necks.

An irate mob could be seen in the video, shouting, “die, die, burn them, burn them.”

At some points in the video, a policeman was seen interviewing the boys. He asked who sent them (victims) to rob the area, an accusation they denied. One of the hoodlums, holding a sharp object attempted to cut off the private part of one of the victims.

Nwainokpor could be seen pleading with the hoodlums and policemen to spare his life, saying he could identify himself if given a chance. His plea, however, fell on deaf ears.

A source, who visited the family of Nwainokpor on Tuesday, learnt that the lynching took place around 3pm on July 21, 2013 in Ajara area of Badagry, a community not far from Nwainokpor’s family home.

His father, Samuel said that his son was arrested while passing through a street in the area but a misunderstanding later ensued and the hoodlums pounced on him and Kazeem.

He added that Nwainokpor, who was nicknamed Ify, was a final year student of Geology and Mining.

He said, “On that particular day, I was in Ghana when I received a telephone call that I should come immediately. My wife was in Delta State taking care of her mother.

“When I arrived two days later, my relatives and the caretaker of my house told me that my son was killed in the Ajara area along with his friend. I was devastated.

“I got my son a temporary job with a Customs licensed agent since their lecturers were on strike. He worked everyday except on Sundays when he visited his friends. On that day, he went to see Kazeem and they were strolling around Ajara.”

Samuel said because there had been a robbery in Ajara four days earlier, some of the residents were on the lookout for strange faces.

He added that when the youth saw two unknown young men, they accosted them and an argument ensued.

He said the youth called the head of the vigilante group in the area, one Asiribo.

He said, “Asiribo came to the scene with a locally-made pistol and handcuffs. He handcuffed my son and his friend before asking them questions.

“Later, it was decided that the boys be taken to the Baale, Agano Oniyon of Agamade Ajara. But as they were going, Asiribo, while trying to return his gun into its pouch, mistakenly shot himself in the stomach and died.”

Samuel said Asiribo’s death infuriated the youth, who blamed the boys for his death.“The mob picked up sticks and beat them to death. Policemen were there,” he said.

Holding back tears, the retired immigration officer added that the police treated the matter as a robbery case. Beating his chest, Samuel said there was no way his son would have been involved in armed robbery.

Nwainokpor’s boss, Aloysius Onyenibedi, described him as an honest and hardworking person.

“I trusted him to the extent that I used to keep a lot of money with him. He was good to my children and was honest,” he said.

The Nwainokpor family berated the Divisional Police Officer, Badagry Police Station, Dankoli Mohammed, for the manner he treated the case.

The spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, said, “The incident is quite pathetic. Even if they were armed robbers, no one has the right to take the life of another. Why then do we have the police and the judiciary? The Nigerian police as well as the law condemn mob action and jungle justice. The commissioner of police has set up a high- powered investigation body to investigate the matter.”

President Jonathan's Convoy Involved In Auto Crash, 14 Injured

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Umar Shehu, has on Tuesday confirmed that the convoy of President Goodluck Jonathan was involved in an auto crash the day before, leaving 14 persons injured.

According to the eyewitnesses, three confessional policemen, three mobile policemen, one member of the civil defence corps, as well as one official of the state branch of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and six civilians were "seriously injured".

Mr Shehu claimed the state government had since released funds for the treatment of all the victims. He added that some of the victims have been discharged but those who have serious fracture were still at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia.

According to him, the accident happened when the vehicle of a prison officer ran into the convoy of the president and collided with one of the riders, who somersaulted and thereafter ran into the crowd.

"They are all responding to treatment at the hospital. Some have fractures on their legs.

"The prison officer sustained minor injury. He is still in police custody while investigation is ongoing," he said.

It will be recalled that the president was in Lafia for the inauguration of the newly constructed Federal High Court and Ta'al Model School constructed by the present administration in the state.

He was represented by Vice-President Namadi Sambo.

Ireland - Father questioned over sons’ deaths after release from hospital ...sons had been dead in the vehicle for several hours before the crash

Sanjeev Chada has been arrested by gardaí investigating the murders of his two sons, ten-year-old Eoghan and five-year-old Ruairí Sanjeev Chada has been arrested by gardaí investigating the murders of his two sons, ten-year-old Eoghan and five-year-old Ruairí

Gardaí are treating as a murder inquiry their investigation into the deaths of Ruairí (5) and Eoghan (10) Chada after postmortems on their remains found they had died at the hands of a third party.

The investigation into the murders of young brothers Eoghan and Ruairí Chada intensified today as their father was discharged from hospital and taken into Garda custody.

Sanjeez Chada was taken to Westport Garda station in Co Mayo at 12.30pm for questioning under caution about his sons’ deaths.

The arrest comes as other family members are in Westport preparing to bring the bodies of the boys back to their Co Carlow home today ahead of their funerals in coming days. Their bodies were released this afternoon following the completion of post mortems.

Mr Chada’s detention under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act gives investigating gardaí a maximum of 24 hours to question him. When that period expires he must either be charged with a criminal offence or released from custody without charge.

However, if gardaí detain Mr Chada overnight, his questioning could be suspended and would officially recommence tomorrow morning. In that event, the 24 hours of questioning time would not expire until tomorrow evening.

If released without charge, he could be arrested again at a future time if and when the Garda investigation into the killings throws up new information gardaí may want to put to him.

Mr Chada has been in hospital in Westport since he was taken from the scene of a car crash at Cloonen, Rossbeg, near Westport on Monday at 3.30pm.

He had been reported missing with his sons at 1.30am on Monday after he failed to return to his home with Eoghan (10) and Ruairí (5) on Sunday night.

They had left their home at Ballinkillen near Bagnesltown in Co Carlow at 6.30pm on Sunday ostensibly to go bowling in Carlow town.

Mr Chada’s wife and the boys’ mother, Kathleen Chada raised the alarm in the early hours.

However, despite an intensive Garda investigation from the early hours of Monday and through the day, no trace was found of Mr Chada, his two boys or the green Ford Focus car they were in until the vehicle crashed into a wall at high speed just outside Westport on Monday afternoon.

As Mr Chada was being assisted for his injuries at the crash scene, gardaí searched his vehicle and found the bodies of his two sons Eoghan and Ruairí in the boot.

Post mortems on their remains later revealed they had died unlawfully and had been dead in the vehicle for several hours before their bodies were found.

When those results were confirmed last night, a murder investigation was begun. And when Mr Chada was discharged from hospital at around 12.20pm today, he was taken to Westport garda station for questioning.

While the results of the post mortems on the dead boys have not been released, Garda sources have told The Irish Times they died of asphyxiation, apparently from strangulation.

Concerns for the safety of the boys were high from the time they went missing because Ms Chada was unable to contact her husband by phone and because staying away from the home in unexplained circumstances was completely out of character for him.

Mr Chada, an out of work IT consultant, had also been under financial pressure of late having suffered losses on the stock exchange online and spread betting.

In the hours after he and his children were reported missing at 1.30am on Monday, he made a phone call to a family member and was in a very distressed state, heightening the concerns for his and his children’s safety.
