Photos and Video: Gunman kills 26, including 20 children, at Connecticut school....Pupils describe hearing shots.

A heavily armed gunman opened fire inside a Connecticut elementary school on Friday, killing 26 people, including 20 children, in the latest in a series of shooting rampages across the United States this year, U.S. media reported.
The gunman was dead inside Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, state police Lieutenant Paul Vance told a news conference.

Vance said the gunman killed 18 children and six adults at the school and two wounded children died later in the hospital. Another person connected to the suspect was found dead at a house in Newtown, bringing the death toll to 28.

One of the dead was the shooter's mother, a teacher at the school, The New York Times reported, citing a law enforcement official. The New York Times also reported that the gunman killed himself at the scene.

The suspected gunman entered the school as children were gathered in their classrooms for morning meeting. He was armed with four weapons and wore a bullet-proof vest, WABC reported.

If confirmed, it would be one of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history. The holiday season tragedy was the second shooting rampage in the United States this week and was certain to revive a debate about U.S. gun laws.
President Barack Obama, wiping away tears and pausing to collect his emotions, mourned the "beautiful little kids between the ages of 5 and 10 years old" who were killed.

Manager and Housemaid kill boss, take over business

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a manager and a housemaid for killing their boss, Alhaja Sikirat Eko, in Omole Phase 1, Lagos State.

Eko was said to be running a restaurant and bar in her compound, where she lived alone with the maid.

According to the police authorities, the suspects allegedly killed Eko at her home located on 5, Babatunde Ladega Street and kept her corpse within the premises.

The suspects were said to have continued to run the restaurant, giving neighbours and customers the impression that the deceased had travelled.

The two were said to have run out of luck when relatives of the deceased came on a visit. When the suspects could not provide a satisfactory answer, the matter was said to have been reported at Area G Command, in Ogba.

A police source who preferred to remain anonymous, told our correspondent that the manager threw Eko into a well inside the compound along with a generator.

The manager was said to have taken her phone which he used in impersonating her.

“The manager was using the deceased’s phone and assumed her identity. Sometimes, he would send text messages with her phone, telling people that all was well”, he said.

It was learnt that when the house was thoroughly searched, Eko’s corpse was found in a decomposing state.

A family friend, who preferred to remain anonymous, said, “Mummy (Eko) has just one child and she lives in the United Kingdom. When she could not get her mother on the telephone, she called relatives to help her find out what was wrong.

“When the relatives got there, the manager told them that she had travelled. The relatives became suspicious because the house was left open and the manager behaved as if he was the owner of the house. The relatives then reported the matter to the police.”

Our correspondent, who visited the area on Thursday, observed that the gate of the premises was locked.

A security guard in the area said Eko hadn’t been seen by neighbours in over two months.

The security guard described the deceased as a very nice but strict woman.

He said, “The last time we saw madam (Eko) was during Sallah. When we asked the housemaid her whereabouts, she said she had travelled to Abuja. I became suspicious because her vehicle was still parked outside the compound.

“It wasn’t until Saturday when policemen stormed the area that we knew what had happened. Policemen arrested about five of us, thinking that we were among but fortunately, the manager and the maid confessed.

“The incident is very sad because madam (Eko) was a very nice person. There was one time that my motorcycle was seized. She was the one that urged the police to give it back to me.”

When contacted on the telephone, the spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

Braide said the manager was the one who planned the killing. She added that the two would be paraded before journalists on Friday (today).

“The two suspects have confessed to the crime and they will be paraded before journalists on Friday,” she said.

33-Year-Old-Man Kicked Out By Bouncers For Looking Like Jesus

Bearded Nathan Grindal, 33, was enjoying the match between star champ Phil Taylor and Kim Huybrechts when some of the 4,500-strong audience spotted his likeness to the son of God.
photo
Chants of "Jesus" quickly spread through the rowdy crowd, interrupting play at Butlins in Minehead, Somerset. Security was called before six bouncers escorted upset Nathan from the Cash Converters Players' Championship, being shown on ITV4.

As he left a chant of 'Stand up if you love Jesus' broke out, with many of the boozed-up crowd getting to their feet. Nathan, a labourer, was escorted to a nearby bar where security staff bought him a pint and told him to watch the rest of the final on the telly.

He saw the legendary Taylor win then found himself being asked to pose for signed photos with fans as they left the arena. Nathan, who emigrated from his native Australia to Oxford six years ago, said: "I didn't go to the darts dressed as Jesus – I went as me. It was all very weird and distressing. I didn't break down crying but I did get emotionally distraught. They were bullying me and picking on me, saying that I was someone else. It would have been okay if the security hadn't made a fuss getting me out of the arena."

Nathan, who began growing his beard four months ago, had booked a three-day stay at Butlins earlier this month with five pals to watch the darts.

He added: "In his post-match interview, Phil Taylor said something like 'if I ever see Jesus again, I'll crucify him myself.' Now that's just hurtful. I love darts, but I'm worried about ever going to see it live again, just in case the crowd turns on me like they did last time."
Dave Allen, spokesman for the Professional Darts Corporation, said Nathan was ejected to prevent his presence becoming a nuisance to the players.

He said: "There was a lot of chanting of Jesus and I think to avoid it becoming too much of a distraction for the players he was taken by security to another part of the complex. There is plenty of audience participation. They are encouraged to support the players within certain boundaries. The fact they can buy four-pint pitchers certainly helps."

STYLEWATCH: Dressing To Suit Your Body Shape...THE CORNET

SUITABLE DRESSING FOR THE CORNET BODY SHAPE:

What is a cornet body shape?

Trinny and Susannah’s the Cornet is described as broad shoulders, small boobs, no waist, slim hips and long slim legs.

The Cornet is athletic, slender, sometimes to the point of shapelessness, but always willowy. The taller Cornets end up as models as your almost boyish frame is prized by designers to show off their clothes. For the more pedestrian you’re likely to have slender long limbs that at times can seem almost gangly and a fairly straight up and down torso. Most particular you have very broad shoulders; in fact your shoulders are probably the widest part of you.

Dressing The Cornet:

A Cornet shape is all about angles. Those same angles that make you feel gawky and gangly need to be handled in a way that makes you feel feminine and comfortable. And of course it’s important to balance out your shoulders.
Don’t – wear shapeless clothes to cover up; it will accentuate the issue.
Do – play up the angles in your body. They’re there and echoing those angles can look very feminine.
Don’t – wear anything that will broaden your shoulders as it will emphasize them out of all proportion.
Do – opt for different cuts; asymmetric tops and dresses, angular dresses, patterns that break up the sameness of your torso.
Clothes – what to avoid:

Floaty dresses – a floaty shapeless dress will swathe you in fabric and make your shape disappear. It will emphasise your angularness and you’ll seem gangly and much like a child playing dressup.
Platform shoes – you have delicate ankles and legs, finely shaped and … well fine. A great big platform shoe on the end of your foot is going to make your legs look stick thin.
Three-quarter length sleeves – because you have such long slender limbs its very simple to overemphasis this. Three-quarter length sleeves, which cut midway your forearms will make you look like a gorilla in a shrunk top. Opt for longer or shorter sleeves.
Scooped necklines – a scooped neckline opens up the chest by emphasising the breasts. If you have small breasts, um, it’s going to emphasize that. Again you’ll look like a child playing dressup.
Shoulder pads – shoulder pads widen the shoulders something you most definitely do not need to do. It will throw your balance off and make your hips look tiny.
Clothes – what shapes to look for:

Levi L02 skinny jeansSkinny jeans – you have slender hips and long legs; skinny jeans were made for you. The tapered leg will highlight your hips and thighs and give you the illusion of more curves than their actually are.

Karin cigarette pantCigarette pants – ditto with cigarette pants with the added benefit your legs are long enough to handle being cut off at the ankle. Plus your ankles are lovely so showing them off is an added benefit. Think Audrey Hepburn on a summers day in Paris …

Button placket cable split cowl jumperWide lapel asymmetric jumper – the wide lapel breaks up the expanse of your shoulders to make you seem more in proportion. Then the way the jumper is fitted around your middle highlights the waist and flares over your hips highlighting your curves.
Evie Belle burgunday skirtFlared skirt – a flared skirt comes straight out from the waist and gives shape to your hips. Because a flared skirt works best for someone with a flat belly choose something with netting which will disguise your stomach if you have even a hint of roundness.
Combo day dressAngular dress – you’re an angular shape, and putting a square peg in a square dress is ideal. The hard lines create the illusion of curviness, ironically, and on someone curvier would become somewhat of a caricature. You have the angles to pull off an angular dress and make it look sexy.
Lela Rose pleated cotton-twill dressDraping jersey dress – look for something that is going to create curves. This dress is cinched in at the waist and then flows out over the hips. The draping fabric will cling lovingly to your shape whilst the ruching and folds breakup the up and downess of your body whilst the neckline breaks up the width of your shoulders.
Azzedine Alaia wool flared skirtFluted skirt – a fluted skirts works wonderfully for the Cornet as it hugs your bottom then flares out to give the illusion of curvy hips and thighs.

Jean AvaSlim-heeled shoes – delicate ankles call for a delicate shoe. Opt for something with a slender heel.

Living With The Dead.....Man Accused Of Murdering Girlfriend And Living With Decomposing Corpse

Grisly details have emerged in the death of a woman whose body was found badly decomposed in a Stockton apartment last December.

Prosecutors say Devon Epps murdered his girlfriend and then lived with her rotting corpse, which he kept in the bathtub, for months.

Veronica Jones, a 35-year-old mother of ten, was first reported missing by family members in June of last year. It wasn't until Epps was evicted from his home six months later that the apartment manager discovered her body. According to authorities, her face had been beaten beyond recognition.

Epps was arrested and charged with murder two days later. Management at his building said he suffered from mental problems and kicked him out for incidents relating to his illness.

"Violence, yelling, screaming, destruction, and women locked in the room," apartment management employee Leslie Pearce told CBS News upon his arrest.

Jurors were shown graphic images of the crime scene during Epps' trial, which began on Friday. The coroner says Jones was bludgeoned with a metal pedestal, raped and stabbed 32 times.

"It's morbid, it's disgusting," Jones' brother, Isaac Zuniga, said when the victim's body was first discovered. "I'm horrified by the experience my sister went through."

Lagos Version Of Monopoly Launched In Nigeria

The first African city edition of the famous board game Monopoly has been launched in Lagos.

The Nigerian metropolis is one of the fast-growing cities in the world.

The board's layout was unveiled at an event in Lagos City Hall, with the manmade Banana Island named as the upmarket equivalent of Mayfair in the London edition.
Makoko, the slum on stilts over the city's lagoon, is the cheapest property for sale on the Lagos board.

Nimi Akinkugbe, the head of Bestman Games which is producing the Lagos edition, told Nigeria's Guardian newspaper ahead of the launch that suggestions for the Mayfair spot were "a hot topic".

The BBC's Tomi Oladipo in Lagos says Banana Island, which got the coveted position, is an artificially created island where the very wealthy reside.

Some properties on the island sell for about $8m (£4.9m) - and it would cost about $150,000 a year to rent a flat there, he says.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange, Murtala Muhammed International Airport and several hotels are other properties on the board.

Many of the squares are sponsored by banks and shopping centres and even the Lagos state government appears, while some major landmarks like Tinubu Square, the New Afrika Shrine nightclub, Third Mainland Bridge and the National Theatre have been left out, our correspondent says.

Other aspects of the game have been tailored for Lagos, like the "Go To Jail" cards, which read: "Go to jail. Go directly to Kirikiri jail," referring to the city's maximum security prison.

Our reporter says one of the Chance cards issuing a fine quotes a phrase regularly used by police officers: "Park! Park! For reckless driving pay a fine... and register for retraining."

Another reads: "For attempting to bribe a law enforcement agent, pay a fine."

Some of the new traffic laws introduced by the Lagos state government, and the punishments for various offences, have also been included in the game, our reporter says.

"You've been caught driving against traffic. Report for psychiatric evaluation," one card reads.
The Monopoly game was developed in the US, originally based on streets in Atlantic City. A London version of the game was produced in 1935.

"Lagos is the first African city to have its Monopoly. Two countries in Africa have theirs, Morocco and South Africa. But there's no city that has its own customised edition," Ms Akinkugbe told the Guardian.

Wow! Sounds interesting! Would like to have this version of monopoly. Good initiative! What do you think folks?
