Brazil is gearing up for the "Miss Bum Bum" pageant, a nationwide contest to find the best butt in the country.

The nation's cutest derriere will be chosen out of 27 competitors, one from each of Brazil's Federative Units. Online voting will determine 15 finalists, who will travel to São Paolo in November for the "grand finale."

"Brazilians definitely have a thing with butts," said Brazilian Graciela Murano, writer and editor for Oddee, noting that "bumbum" is the word most commonly used in Brazil to refer to someone's rear end.

In her country, the 30-year-old says, most people know about the competition, but like to pretend that they're not interested.

In reality, though, "Every woman has read about it and won't admit it," she said, "and every man's dream is to be a part of the judging team."

It looks like those dreams won't come true, at least this year. In early September, Pamela Anderson was contracted to judge the competition, according to the Brazil Dispatch.

Like any good pageant, Miss Bum Bum Brazil is not without scandal.

Cibelle Riberio was one candidate who almost slipped through the cracks. Murano told The Huffington Post that Riberio was a national "favorite" for the competition, but was almost disqualified when judges suspected she may have butt implants, and the curvy contestant refused to take an X-ray.

However, it looks Riberio has since submitted to the X-ray and, butt approved, is now back in the running, according to Globo.

Anyone can see that the pageant contestants have perfect posteriors, but what about Brazilians in general? Do they have better butts than the rest of the world?

"Yep, definitely," Murano said.

Wow! What do you think of this competition peeps? Nigerians also have a thing for butts...

Shocking U-Turn: Female Pilgrims Not Deported - Hajj Commission

The National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) has described as untrue reports that female Muslim pilgrims who were airlifted back to Nigeria last week were deported by the Saudi Arabian government.

Instead, the commission said the sudden return of the female pilgrims was at the instance of Nigerian government, which wanted to rectify certain anomalies.

It said Nigeria has not violated any Saudi Arabian law to warrant deportation of the pilgrims.

Addressing a press briefing in Abuja yesterday, the Chairman of NAHCON, Mallam Mohammed Musa Bello, reiterated that the issue of a male companion for female pilgrims to the kingdom is a fundamental aspect of the hajj exercise which Nigeria cannot afford to violate.

He said that the Federal Government delegation to Saudi Arabia was also not denied visa to the kingdom noting that the issue of the departure of the delegation has to do with the disparity in timing between the two countries.

This was as he said that the suspended airlifting operation of the pilgrims would resume as soon as all the challenges that led to the problem are addressed. He added that eight states with 32 flight schedules are on standby to commence operation when the challenges are sorted out.

He gave assurance that all the pilgrims would be airlifted before the October 20 closing date of the King Abdulazeez International Airport Jeddah and Madinah airport, saying the approved air carriers for the operation, Max Airline, Mediview, Meridiene and Kabo airlines, are all set to commence airlifting.

Father Bound His Little Boy In Chains Locked With A Padlock (PHOTO)

This little boy was found this yesterday (29th Sept 2012) inside bush near a river in Okpuno Awka, Nigeria, crying by the community security service during the sanitation exercise. His legs were bound in chains and locked with a padlock.

From investigation his father whose photo also appeared below known as Alhaji by his fellow Okada riders and hails from Igala community of kogi state is the one chained his two legs and left him in that bush for three days now without food or water.

Its this same man that told his neighbours that his son has been missing since three days now and both him and neighbours were searching for him together without them knowing that he knew where his son is. But luck ran out on him today when the security men from the community discovered the boy crying in the bush.

The little boy happens to be the only child from his former wife. Who is no longer living with him.

OMG! What could be this man's motive for this wicked act?

248 passengers escape death in Qatar Airways plane emergency landing in Lagos

There was tension in the aviation industry yesterday amid speculation that there was an incident involving a Qatar Airways Airbus 332 with 284 passengers onboard on its way to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos from Doha, the capital of Qatar, as it made an emergency landing due to a flat tyre.

The pilot of the Airbus A330-200 plane had sent a distress call to air traffic controllers on duty at the airport, telling them that one of his tyres had low pressure.

The aircraft carrying 248 passengers touched down on runway 18R of the airport at about 1:15pm with a burst tyre.

Scores of fire fighters from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Lagos State Fire Service and the Federal Fire Service had been mobilised to the airport.

Rescue workers from the National Emergency Management Agency, Julius Berger among others had also been waiting for the distressed aircraft.

A few minutes after the aircraft made the landed, it was towed to the parking bay of the international wing of the airport.

The panic-stricken passengers were however, unwilling to speak to journalists.

The Information Officer, NEMA, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, who led the emergency process on behalf of the agency, told reporters that the agency had received a distress call from airport authorities as early as 10am.

Farinloye added that the aircraft was said to have had a tyre burst on the rear side of the aircraft, a situation that required emergency landing.

He said the agency consequently mobilised and coordinated an emergency landing which included several agencies such as the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Civil Defence Corps.
He noted that the aircraft landed safely.

The Director-General, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Dr. Harold Demuren, said the pilot took precautionary steps to land the aircraft the way he did.

He confirmed that the aircraft had low pressure in one of the tyres.

An official of Qatar Airways in Lagos said the airline had no official reaction to the development since the aircraft landed safely

OMG!!! Police Arrest Man In Possession Of A Chunk Of Human Flesh in Ogun

The police in Ogun State have arrested a suspected ritual killer, Jimoh Olorunwa, at a cemetery in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, with a chunk of human flesh.

The police also arrested a suspected cult member, Ahmed Oduyoye, in the same town and two suspected rapists in Oke-Ola area of Imeko.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Okoye Ikemefuna, said this while parading the suspects before journalists at the state Command Headquarters, Eleweran, on Wednesday.

Ikemefuna said that the 34-year-old suspected ritual killer was arrested at the Christians Cemetery in Ago-Iwoye following a report by Chief Adekoya, the Chairman of the Christian Committee of Ago-Iwoye.

The commissioner said, “Adekoya reported at Ago-Iwoye Division that when he visited the cemetery on routine check, he discovered that some graves had been broken and he suspected foul play.

“On receipt of the information, surveillance was mounted within the cemetery area, and this led to the arrest of one of the ritual killers at the cemetery with human flesh. The suspect confessed to the offence and mentioned one Abore of Odosinusi area of Ago-Iwoye who is presently at large.”

He added that efforts were already being made by the police to arrest the other fleeing suspects.

Ikemefuna also said Oduyoye, the 22-year-old 400 level Computer Science student of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, was arrested by police detectives after the suspected cult member and one Bobby snatched a BlackBerry phone and beat up their victim at a bar.

The police commissioner said when the house of the suspect was searched after his arrest, 146 copies of Vulture Magazine, a publication of the Eiye Confraternity displaying nude pictures of some female students were recovered.

Besides, it was learnt that a charm, a short cutlass and a torchlight were also recovered.

“The other gang members, Malo and Bobby, are at large. Efforts to arrest them are on top gear,” the CP said.

However, Oduyoye said he was forced to join the cult group only two weeks ago when some members of the group beat him up and dumped the magazines on him for safe keeping or risk being killed.

Cynthia: Court Grants Two Suspects Bail, Remands Driver

L-R: Nonso, Okechukwu and Ezeaka. Inset: Cynthia

A Yaba Chief Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday granted bail to two suspects arrested in connection with the alleged murder of Cynthia Osokogu,

But the driver who was accused of driving the prime suspect to Cosmilla Hotel, FESTAC, was remanded in prison custody.

The suspects granted bail – Nonso Ezike (22), who is the younger brother to Olisaeloka, one of the alleged killers, and Ezeaka Chinonso (27) – were arrested by policemen at Area E for receiving and selling Cynthia’s BlackBerry phone.

The two counts read, “That you Ezike Nonso Ifechukwu and Ezeaka Chinonso, sometime in the month of July 2012, at 93 Tedi/Memo Road Abule-Osun, Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit: receiving robbed/stolen property thereby committed an offence and punishable under Section 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

“That you (accused persons), on the same date, time did knowingly receive one white BlackBerry phone valued at N85,000 from one Ezike Olisaeloka also known as Chidera, property of Cytnhia, knowing same to have been robbed/stolen and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 326 (1)(2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.”

Nonso’s lawyer, Mr. J. C Ngobili, told the court that the accused was a student of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, and prayed the court to grant him bail in liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Mr. P.A. Adekomaya, admitted that although the offences were bailable, he pointed out that the bail condition ought not to be too liberal in view of the circumstances surrounding Cynthia’s murder.

He granted Nonso and Ezeaka bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties in like sum, adding that the sureties must not be teachers or local government employees. He added that the sureties could be bank tellers.

He said, “The court observes that the matter at hand is a bailable offence but in order to deter the defendants from flight, I hereby subject them to bail of N500, 000 each with two sureties in like sum.”

The third accused person, Gideon Okechukwu, a driver, was however charged with eight counts of murder, rape, robbery, conspiracy, administering a harmful substance to the deceased among others.

The charge reads in part, “That you, Gideon Okechukwu, and others charged to court, on the same dates, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial district, did unlawfully kill one Cynthia Osokogu (25) by administering her with obnoxious substance known as Rohypnol Flunitrazepam tablets via a Ribena drink, binding her with padlock and cellotaped her legs, neck and mouth, giving her fist blows all over her body, giving her several human bites, tortured and strangled her to death and thereby committed an offence, punishable under Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.”

Okechukwu had told PUNCH Metro before he was arraigned that he only drove the alleged killers from the area where the hotel was situated, adding that he had no role in Cynthia’s murder.

Okechukwu’s lawyer, Bello, prayed the court to also grant the accused bail, adding that he had been held at the State Criminal Investigation Department.

The magistrate, who quickly interjected, explained that it wasn’t within the jurisdiction of the court to grant bail for such offences.

He said, “Do you think I am drunk or under a spell that I would grant bail for such offences? Before this court is an application for remand. The accused person can only be granted bail based on the advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions or order from a superior court.”

Okechukwu was remanded in Ikoyi Prison. The matter was adjourned till October 3, 2012.

Legendary singer Andy Williams, known for his smooth voice and classics such as "Moon River," died after a year-long battle with bladder cancer at his Branson, Missouri, home Tuesday (25th Sept) night, his family said.

2012 Emmy Awards: Best And Worst Dressed On The Red Carpet

The 64th Emmy Awards has come and gone, but we wouldn't let go without analyzing the fashion hits and misses on the red carpet...

The Emmys wouldn't be the Emmys without at least one Alec Baldwin sighting. The "30 Rock" actor was all smiles as he stepped out with gorgeous wife Hilaria.

Move over Angelina Jolie. There's a new starlet in town who's not afraid to flash a little leg. Alexandra Breckenridge of "American Horror Story" strikes a fierce pose in a slinky black gown.
Does Allison Williams' green Oscar de la Renta gown remind anyone else of the "Wizard of Oz"? The "Girls" star looks like she's off to Emerald City, not the Emmys.

That's one way to make a comeback! Appearing on the red carpet for the first time since announcing her split from husband Will Arnett, Amy Poehler appears smiling and drama-free in a plunging black dress by Stella McCartney.

"Veep" star Anna Chlumsky went for a slightly risque look in a dress by Christian Siriano, pairing black lace over a nude-colored slip.

Archie Panjabi of "The Good Wife" turns heads in an aquamarine number by Randi Rahm.

... Although props go to Gould's "Modern Family" co-star Ariel Winter, who looks far more mature than her 14 years let on in this patterned gown by designer Katharine Kidd.

Ashley Judd goes for pretty in pink in this body-hugging fuschia gown by Carolina Herrera, but her teased-up poof is something we'd expect from Snooki, not an Emmy-nominated actress. The star was up for Outstanding Actress in a TV Movie/Miniseries for her role in "Missing."

Brooke Burke puts her toned arms and enviable curves on display in this beautiful ivory number ...

She has a signature style and she's sticking to it! Christina Hendricks puts her famous curves to work (again) in a form-fitting beige gown by Christian Siriano.

Christine Baranski is definitely a knockout in this look-at-me gold minidress.

Baby bump alert! Claire Danes flaunted her growing tummy in a bright and bold dress by Lanvin -- as well as a brand new Emmy award to add to her collection. The "Homeland" star won Best Actress in a Drama Series.

Er, Edie Falco seems to teeter dangerously close to a wardrobe malfunction in the two-toned illusion dress by Stella McCartney.

We're still getting used to Elisabeth Moss' platinum pixie cut, but we love the "Mad Men" star's strapless number by Dolce and Gabbana.

If there was one couple we wish we could tag along with on the red carpet, it would be Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi. Don't they look like they're having a blast?

Emily VanCamp should seek "Revenge" on whatever stylist picked out this colorless J. Mendel creation. The cut does nothing to flatter her amazing figure.

"Once Upon a Time," Ginnifer Goodwin draped herself in a set of dining room curtains and called it a dress. We normally love the star's red carpet style, but this orange gown by Monique Lhuiller overpowers her petite figure.

She's a host on E! and "Fashion Police," so it only makes sense that Giuliana Rancic knows how to cause a fashion commotion on the red carpet. The new hot mama makes black look anything but boring in this gown by Romana Keveza.

We can always count on Sofia Vergara to amp up the va-va-voom factor on the red carpet. The "Modern Family" star, named the highest paid actress on TV by Forbes, dazzled in a glittering, emerald green gown by designer Zuhair Murad, finishing off the look with an arm full of diamonds by Neil Lane.

You can't win them all, Glenn Close. We're going to chalk this one up as a red carpet miss.

Hayden Panettiere looks like she's heading to a really fancy toga party in this Grecian-inspired Marchesa creation.

Why stop at one thigh-high slit when you've got the gams for two? Red carpet glamazon Heidi Klum flaunted her supermodel legs in a flowing, seafoam green couture gown by Alexander Vauthier.

Always something of a fashion risk-taker when it comes to the red carpet, January Jones goes for gothic glam with a show-stopping black gown by Zac Posen.

Jena Malone rocks this season's hottest color, oxblood, in an intricately woven J. Mendel creation.

Don't let her red carpet outfit deceive you. There's nothing shady about Jessica Lange, who took home the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress for "American Horror Story."

We're absolutely "Mad" about this one-shouldered Jason Wu dress "Mad Men" star Jessica Pare wore on the red carpet. Simply stunning!

It looks like seafoam on the red carpet is one trend that's here to stay. Julianne Hough flaunts her curves in a dramatic, flared-out mermaid dress.

It takes a brave woman to wear that much yellow, but Julianne Moore already proved she's one gutsy gal when she took on Sarah Palin in "Game Change." The star, who wore Dior haute couture, took home Best Actress in a TV Movie/Miniseries.

Go bold or go home! "Modern Family" star Julie Bowen did what few other women can do -- she wore chartreuse on the red carpet and made it look amazing. Oh, and she won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy. Overall, a good night.

Kaley Cuoco makes a "Big Bang" in a lemon yellow dress by Angel Sanchez.

We have to hand it to Kat Dennings. The girl knows how to work her best, er, assets. The "Two Broke Girls" star certainly stands out on the red carpet while simultaneously managing to blend in with her matching scarlet dress by J. Mendel.

There's nothing scary about this gorgeous, beaded Badgley Mischka gown Kate Mara wore to the Emmys, but would it kill the "American Horror Story" actress to smile?

Looks like life on the D-List is working out after all for comedienne Kathy Griffin, who looked gorgeous in a billowing black gown.

Fall's hottest trend? Matching your hair color to your dress. Still, we're not sure the "Fashion Police" would have anything mean to say about Kelly Osbourne's stunning purple gown by Zac Posen.

Kerry Washington's tactic for winning an Emmy award? Blind out the competition with a crazy sparkly dress. The "Scandal" star, who wore Vivienne Westwood, was one of the many celebrity presenters to take the stage at the 64th annual Emmy Awards.

Thigh's the limit for Lara Spencer, who donned this one-shouldered beaded applique dress by Badgley Mischka to the Emmy Awards after viewers voted for what she should wear on "Good Morning America."

Lucy Liu is apparently going for disco ball-chic in this heavy-looking metallic Versace dress. Seriously, that can't be comfortable.

Maria Menounos plays it safe at the Emmy Awards, choosing a simple yet chic cornflower blue dress that shows off her gorgeous neckline.

Is she wearing a bustle? "Downton Abbey" star Michelle Dockery obviously takes Victorian period acting very seriously.

Padma Lakshmi is a vision in orange in this floor-length tangerine gown by Monique Lhuillier.

Phoebe Price looks like she's off to the prom!

We're not sure how Ricky Gervais managed to score such a red-hot lady, but he and girlfriend Jane Fallon make an adorable pair together at the Emmy Awards.

Tina Fey has definitely upped her red carpet style over the years. The "30 Rock" star nailed it this year in a maroon column gown by Vivienne Westwood that perfectly accentuated her hourglass shape.

Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson make a picture perfect couple on the red carpet ... as always.
"Girls" star Zodia Mamet goes to take the plunge in this black and white dress, but we're more distracted by the gown's awkward fit.

Alright Zooey Deschanel. We get it. You're quirky and cute and have perfect red carpet style. Is there anything you can't do? The "New Girl" star looks positively ethereal in this gauzy, ice blue dress by Reem Acra.
