Three cups of decaffeinated coffee a day may be good for your liver

Scientists believe coffee contains a compound - other than caffeine - which protects the liver

According to a new study, people who drink three or more cups of coffee a day, irrespective of caffeine content, had lower levels of the abnormal liver enzymes that are a sign of damaged liver cells.

Large amounts of caffeine could damage your health....memory loss and increased rates of heart disease and cancer, so scientists recommend decaffeinated coffee.

Previous studies found that coffee consumption may help lower the risk of developing diabetes, stroke, liver disease, and cirrhosis (scarring of the liver due to long-term liver damage).

The findings were published in the journal Hepatology, a journal of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
